Not fancy but Great location

Posted 15-Apr-2014
Stayed for 2 nights in Playa for our honeymoon and it was great location for night life and beach. Not the best food and an older room for sure but great staff who upgraded us to a king bed and a clean hotel. The all inclusive is not what you would expect for drinks. Over all nice pool area would stay again!

Lovely place to stay

Posted 4-Apr-2014
Pros: Lots of closet space, great AC, quiet location, free purified water in lobby.
Cons: Some of the lights didn't work in my room, and it would be great if there was a fridge.
I had a very pleasant stay - my room was quiet, clean and the AC worked great. The staff was helpful and friendly. I didn't go for the all-inclusive option, and thought this is very good value for the money for a no-frills stay!

Read all reviews before booking this hotel!

Read reviews before we left not before we booked.. Big mistake. 1. No hotel shuttle 2. No ice, bucket or water bottle 3.Smaller than a dorm room 4. Room smells of sewage and mold 5.Paid for all inclusive - didn't get that. They have you pay for the premium package when you get there.. So basically you eat off the worst Buffett ever.. Drinks need to be like a piña coloda.. Only beer in a cup. (Included) we paid 57 per person a night for this .. Get there premium package is an extra 38 per night per person. Only diff is 1 more restaurant. We just ate other places. 6.Beach club is a 10 min walk not bad.. They do offer a shuttle we never took it. The beach club is free (cheap) drinks sitting area is jammed packed. We choose to set and pay on the beach .. Rented wood loungers for 10 a person. beach club has great food and drinks.. Service is great too! We spent and extra 200 at beach club . Beach club would go back to I staying at a condo or rental apartment. Well worth it. We like to be waited on.. Also great beach no rocks .. A plus in my book! 7.Wifi free.. Worked great! 8.Best spot located on 5th which is the only reason to stay here. 9. Bedding and bed gross. I packed a down comforter pillows and clean sheets for our stay .. I read review day before we booked. But spent 100 getting it there and back. 10.Hotel curb appeal really appealing .. Very tropical. This was our 4th time to playa. We have stayed at gran Porto, el taj and the royal. All luxury :)

Terrible hotel staff

Posted 11-Jan-2014
Pros: the room was very confortable. and since this was an all inclusive reservation the food was also good.
Cons: the hotel staff definitly doesnot know how to treat people. If they dont want to work they then they shouldnot be working in a hotel.
Location: the hotel was near the beach and near the center of the city so if you want to walk around it was near everything, restaurant, etc.
when we just arrived to the hotel they tried to charge us extra because they claimed that we just paid for a room with only one bed and if we want two bed we have to paid extra. the discussion was over just when we found the copy of the reservation on our bag where it says that we already paid through expedia for a room with 2 beds. A couple of days later we reserved a trip and we agreed with the agency to come by the hotel to bring us the vouchers. The agency person came 3 times asking for us, we were at our room but the front desk person all the time reject the agency person telling that we were not at the hotel! After the agency person left and since we have this excursion to do the next day we decided to go to the agency, when we were leaving the room we found out that the hotel staff left us a note telling us that someone came to see us. but they didnot bother to knock our room to tell us so. This was definitely my worst experience at a hotel.

Nice Stay, I only needet it for the night, the room was clean and included the services it offered, but it needs a better WIFI Signal. Overall for the price and the stars it will deserve a 3.5 to a 4.0 stars hotel

Stay away from this one!

Posted 15-Sep-2013
Pros: Location near beach and 5th av.
Cons: All above
Location: Plenty to do. Close to beach, food and all that playa has to offer.
In five days I moved to three different rooms. 1st move- no wifi access in room. In hindsight I should have stuck with this room. Second room - air conditioner stuck on and room unbearably cold. Hotel solution was to turn it off with no way of turning back on, room became unbearably hot. Third room, no water pressure or hot water in shower! I have up asking for assistance. The place looks ok on surface, but was an absolute shocker!

I stayed at Tukan Hotel while visiting my daughter who lives in playa del Carmen. Room was spacious and very clean. I liked the private terrace overlooking the 5ta Ave. NIce service I would stay there again.
