“A rough start, but would definitely stay there again”
We did the upgrade to the platinum club, which was expensive but well worth it to us. We thought the food was excellent, and though the hotel said that reservations were required a day in advance, we went to the fusion restaurant twice without a reservation and got in within a half hour. The beach was very nice. We had excellent service as well. Our only complaints were minor: not enough waitstaff on the beach, & there was no snackfood place where you could get food & take it back to your chair on the beach. Overall it was a very good experience and we would definitely recommend the Hotel Marina El Cid.
“Good spring break in Cancun”
Easy family vacation. Our kids (13 and 10) loved the pool, beach and buffets. The waiters around the pool were abundant and good drinks if you called your liquor and didn't get the cheap stuff. Happy and helpful staff, beautiful room with an ocean view. Food was plentiful and we could always find something good in the buffets. The breakfasts were especially good. Best dishes were the Mexican choices and stay away from the sushi. The rice was pretty bad in the rolls.
“Great Hotel - Highly Recommended”
This is a great resort, especially if you have kids. The staff is extremely friendly and the food and entertainment were both top-notch. The grounds are well-maintained and the beach and pool are both beautiful. My family and I will definitely come back to this resort again.
“Nice hotel”
Nice staff, great location
“Absolutely Lovely Experience!!”
Everything about this Hotel was Wonderful! We decided to go "Platinum" at this hotel and I would recommend to any traveler that this is the ONLY way to go. The perks and benefits associated with this package right from check in are well worth the extra money! The ocean front room was Lovely and immaculately clean, the Food in all areas of the Hotel was excellent and beautifully presented! The Platinum Club Staff were warm, caring, and a real pleasure to get to know. Usfara was a rare and exceptionally Lovely young woman who went out of her way to make our stay delightful. The beach was warm.... HOWEVER... YOU NEED WATER SHOES! the shows at night were fun and entertaining. The pool area will delight young people of all ages, and the "quiet zone" out font was a real treat! There is no disco at this hotel and for our party that was quite O.K. If you are a party animal this is NOT the hotel for you!! The hotel has about 350 rooms and is small enough to be overseen by it's staff and keep it first rate. Yet large enough for there to be lots of room for everyone to enjoy. A Truly GREAT HOTEL experience!
“Very impressed, can't wait to go back”
We went to the Hotel Marina El Cid jan 7-14th. My husband, daughters ages 4 and 8 and I. We LOVED everything about it. The road to the resort is bumpy, but not near as bad as some of the reviews say it was. Check-in was easy,we didn't get asked once about a timeshare. We were platinum club and I think that it is worth the extra money. Our room was very nice. Next time we will not get a Honeymoon suite as there is NO privacy "glass doors for the shower and the toilet". Beds were fine, it was nice being able to pick out our pillows. The Murphy bed was HARD as a rock, but the girls didn't mind to much as they were so tired at the end of the day. The food was good. The staff was very friendly. Drinks were not short on the alcohol like other places that we've stayed. The Kids Club was AWESOME. Those girls that run it are wonderful! They kept them busy the WHOLE day. The girls met so many other kids, and they hung out the whole week. The beach is good. It is rocky in some parts, but not as bad as some reviews say. We walked into puerto morelos, I wouldn't reccomend it. Just pay 6 dollars and take a taxi. Snorkeling in town is AWESOME. There were so many fish. It was a experience the kids will NEVER forget! Entertainment was good. The girls preformed dances taught at kids club. The circus was very neat, very good talent. Everything is done by 10:00pm.This is NOT a party resort. We had a wonderful trip. I reccomend it to anyone with children!!!
“A visitor from Vancouver, WA reccommends.....”
The facility was great. Food was excellent. The staff keep the hotel and grounds immaculately clean. Service was very good. Plenty of activities for the whole family. If you like to swim at the beach I would recommend bringing aqua socks owing to the rocks/ coral bottom. The snokeling grounds are a 15 minute boat ride away and worth the trip. The trips to the ancient Mayan ruins are very interesting but make for a long day.
“Nice Hotel to Return”
This is a very good hotel for a three to four day stay. The service is good and they have three restaurants with good food. The only drawback would be for those who like to stay up late at night because the music at the bar ends at 11 pm and they have no disco like most hotels in the area. If you will be going with kids, it has a nice water slide and diving/jumping pool they will enjoy. The non/motorized water sports included in the price can also be fun.
“Bad Beach...Great everything else...”
Beach was filled with rocks...if you wish to enter the Ocean, DO NOT stay here... Everything else was great though...Food was excellent, service was above and beyond... However, I did have a problem with Platinum...The package includes alot of amenities, such as unpacking, ironing, etc...But each of these require about 24 hours notice and is exagerrated as to the extent of service that they provide... Platinum is worth it, if you have the extra money to throw around...If not, probably not necessary to have a good time...
“Thanksgiving Family Vacation”
Our stay at El Cid was a memorable experience! The weather was pretty nice in November; the pool water and ocean temperature was pretty cold; the food at all of the restaurants was delicious - definitely 5 star quality! We upgraded to the Platinum level - check-in and out was smooth, as well as the extra services and amenities that came along with upgrading - definitely recommend the platinum level. I especially liked that the El Cid was central to the majority of Cancun's must see attractions! We also had a great time enjoying the all inclusive environment, food, beverage, activities that the El Cid offered! Our children had an amazing time! Only downfall - mosquitos :0/
