“Lovely quaint hotel”
Lovely hotel with very qauint, rustic decor. It's a small hotel and is in a very quiet neighbourhood, just 3 close blocks from the beach and is quite safe in my opinion. The reception staff were indeed amazingly helpful and helped us plan our days and suggested great restaurants to try outside the main, tourist circuit. They also suggested alternate means of transportation using mini vans called collectivos to move around to various points on the highway that connects Play to Cancun and Tulum. All in all it's a great hotel and I would definitely recommend it.
“Excellent hotel in downtown Playa Del Carmen”
We spent 9 nights in this wonderful little 16-room spot in downtown Playa, just a short walk from the beach and 5th avenue. The hotel is a peaceful spot with a nice pool and great rooms. Cleanliness is top notch and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. My only negative point was that the bed was quite firm, a little too firm for my tastes. If you are looking to get away from the big resorts and get a more local feel, this is the place for you. Close to great local spots for eating, around the corner from the local "colectivo" van transportation (cheap public transport to most spots along the main Riviera Maya highway - Tulum or Cancun for 40 pesos per person? Yes!). There is even a little laundromat across the street that washed my clothes for under $4 CAD. The staff on reception are very friendly and knowledgeable and they helped us find the best local, non-tourist eating spots, which was a delight. Overall, we would definitely go back if we were looking for a well-priced, amazingly well-run little hotel in downtown Playa Del Carmen. A+++
“Our hotel in Playa!”
We loved this hotel. Victor's advice at the front desk was the best we received. He'll tell you when it's possible to tour on your own, and when it's better to spend money on a tour. He saved us $$$. The room was clean and well maintained. The pool is a beautiful place to relax. Love the hotel's location. It's on a fairly quiet street, but very close to the beach and restaurants. I'd definitely stay here again.
“A small hotel with class”
Excellent staff. Room was small for 3 adults and one child but we did not expect much more for the price. The pool was very good. I liked the fact that it was close to some excellent restaurants and to the beach. All in all and very good choice. We will return again.
“Hôtel LUNASOL: Bon mais prix non adapté”
L'hotel etait parfait. Néanmoins, notre période de congé etait en basse saison. Cet hotel affichait des prix 38% plus cher que d'autres hotels de même catégorie et de même situation géographique. Nous ne sommes restés que 3 nuits dans cet hotel et l'avons quitté à cause du prix. Nous avons trouvé un autre hôtel (ACUARIO Hotel) à 2 pas de catégorie identique à LUNASOL. Nous avons passé 10 nuits a ACUARIO hôtel. Donc, le rapport prix/qualité de LUNASOL n' est pas justifié. Aussi, pour cette raison uniquement, je ne recommanderais pas cet hôtel.
“Accommodating staff”
The hotel met our expectations. We were most impressed by the extremely friendly and helpful staff. It was clean, comfortable, and up to date. The only complaint is that it was a bit farther from the beach than we anticipated.
“great family trip to Playa”
We thoroughly enjoyed staying in the town of Playa del Carmen at the Hotel Lunasol. Great friendly service and we felt very safe. Lovely relaxing surroundings, short walk to gorgeous beach and many nice little restaurants (not on pricier 5th Ave). Nice mix of travelers from around the world.
