“Best Stay I have had in Mexico To date, been going for 12 years”
Could not ask for a better place to stay. The grounds and beach areas were well kept and clean. The foods (buffets) were the best I have had at hotels in Mexico. There are three different hotels on the ground that you have access to and I would recommend eating at all three. There specially restrants very from good to great and this was the only exception to the best food in Mexico. There is other activities in the evening available that I can not comment on because we were too tired to enjoy. If snoorking is your sport, you can do so right off the beach area. There are miles of sandy beach you can walk and enjoy.
“Already booking our next trip!”
This hotel is immaculate! First class service, first class cleanliness, and a world class location. The staff is more than willing to go out of their way for anything that you need. you would have to try to be bored here, there are a million different activities from laying on the beach, tours, snorkeling, parasailing, etc... The only complaint that we had was the bed. It was just as soft as the tile floor.
“Beautiful place”
The Hotel is big and nice.
“Going back in a few months!!”
Best hotel in the Mayan! 2nd time there and already going back in a few months. Food, staff, service, hotel, everything is amazing. The grounds are beautiful, the pools, the rooms everything is spotless! Must go! :)
“Would stay again for a week”
Grounds are beautiful. Stayed at Akumal instead of Coba (newer) or Tulum (better beach) since it was closer to everything. Very nice room (villa 53), clean, spacious, A/C and plumbing was all working great. Food at the 3 ala cartes were good but the best was Mikado. The buffets are all good but the best buffet was at Coba (it has air conditioning). You can use all 3 pools, restaurants, beaches etc. Beach in front of Akumal is nice, but thought beach in front of Tulum section was better. Snorkeled in front of hotel and saw starfish, stingray and barracuda. Please don't snorkel in protected area. Took the Snorkel Trip from Dive Shop at Tulum and it was great. Went to Half Boon Bay in Akumal and saw huge turtles and great reefs. Service overall was great but sometimes lacking at Breakfast or lunch. Bars were great - nice staff, and drinks not watered down. Because of the 3 properties in 1, it can seem a bit large. Plenty of things to do. Pools, beach, meals, and nightly entertainment. Location is central to Playa Del Carmen and Tulum Ruins. Only downside - the trolley system for going from 1 property to another is confusing and poorly marked - really not labeled at all. There was no rhyme or reason and it could become frustrating. Otherwise, this was a very good value for a nice week long trip.
“Great Resort”
If youre going for the siesta not the fiesta (Cancun) this is a great place. Very laid back and relaxing resort without the drunk college kids and loud parties. The food was ok. The beds were hard as a rock...request the mattress pad. Staff was friendly and funny. Beach was excellent Bring lots of extra cash for excursions and expect a 2 hour drive from the airport.
“LOVED IT”
This was a great resort. Loved the room, loved the service, loved the food. The only bad thing I have to say is that the man who was renting the sail boats was rude, but we didn't let that ruin our experience. Would definatley go back and recommend to friends!!! Had one of our best trips. Right on the beach, great pools, and yummy drinks!!!
“Great place”
I highly recommend to anyone this hotel, although for those one, who wants to have heavy night life, I suggest going to Cancun. Here in Akumal you have beautiful coast, high quality service, great coctail bars with life music. And not to forget the food variety of the buffett restaurant. That is amaizing. The only "bad" choice was to go to the ala cart restaurant, as for us the buffett was much much better. Anyway I loved the place and of course all of us did :) About travelling: from the airport take shuttle to Playa del Carmen (30 Peso / person) or max the bus (80 peso/ person). NO TAXI!(110 USD). Then from Playa del Carmen again a shuttle (25 Peso/person). The organisation for collective shuttles are great. They are travelling continuosly between Tulum and Playa del Carmen. That mean to Tulum you should also go by shuttle. Tulum is appr. 15 km from Akumal, and worst going there! Enjoy your staying in Akumal!!! Bye : Katalin
“We can't wait to go back”
The food was great. The staff was wonderful. The room was very nice, but the bed was a quite hard. We noticed a funny sulfur smell whenever we would take the shuttle to the Tulum side of the resort. (We think it was stagnent water.) We would highly recommend the resort. When our week was up we wanted to send for our kids and just live there.
“Second time there, can't wait to go back”
Great staff
