“Had a great time!”
My boyfriend and I decided last minute to go on vacation to Mexico. We randomly chose the Gran Bahia and it was fantastic. The hotel staff was awesome, they went above and beyond. The room was clean and comfortable and the mini fridge was stocked daily. The food was pretty good, no major complaints. There was a variety of places and foods to choose from. The beach had some rocky spots but there were plenty of other places to choose to sit. The drinks were really, really good (Edgar was probably the best bar tender at the pool bar). I would 100% recommend this hotel for anyone including couples and families who want to go and have a relaxing fun vacation.
“Five Star Experience”
This was my first trip to Mexicao and first experience with an all inclusive package. We had a great time and would recommend Bahia Principe to all my friends. I would also recommend booking any secondary activities (snorkeling/Xel-Ha, Mayan ruins, ATV tour, Xel-Ha, etc..) as soon as possible upon arrival to really enjoy Riveria Maya. We used Best Day Tours, very happy with their service. Adios
“Good family hotel”
Can't really say anything bad about this hotel except that the popular items of food ran out quickly and took awhile to be refilled. Also, their internet was down and unless you were a gold member (an extra $20 US/day), you had to go off-site to find an internet cafe. Otherwise, the staff was very friendly, the grounds were immaculate, the room was clean and the beach was nice.
“Fantastic honeymoon destination!”
My husband and I went here for our honeymoon and could not have asked for anything more perfect. After months of planning our wedding, we wanted to go somewhere where we didn't have to think about anything and could relax all day. We found this in Gran Bahia Principe! We had so much fun without even leaving the resort. There were a ton of restaurants and bars to choose from, not to mention service unlike anything I've experienced. Everyone had a smile on their face and was quick to help when we needed or wanted something. We got to our resort 14 hours later than we were supposed to due to airline trouble, but they met us in the lobby at 2:30 in the morning with mimosas and several people to help us with our bags. I talked to many couples and families at the resort who had been on vacations like this before and they were unanimous in saying this was the best resort they'd ever been to. I would go in the spring before it gets too hot. My only complaint is that there were a lot of kids around, and this wasn't a problem except for a couple cannonballs over my head. Bottom line- if you are looking for a relaxing vacation with people waiting on you hand and foot where all you have to worry about is which swimsuit to wear today, you aren't going to find anything better than this.
“Very nice Akumal resort.”
as listed above
“Second visit, loved it even more!”
I read a lot of reviews before we returned to BPA. Didn't find any of the problems that some people seemed to find. Food is great. There are enough chairs (we had a group of 7 and all sat together), but you can't get to the pool at noon and find a prime place to sunbathe. If you go there to drink you will not have a problem. The shows are good if you don't expect Broadway. I have been to several hotels where you had to pay for a room safe. This is not unique. We love Mexico and BPA is one of our favorites. If you like all inclusives this is wonderful.
“Great deal for its money”
First impression is that it is a humongous place! So be prepared to walk a little bit. On the bright side, there are many trolley-cars/golf-carts running up and down which you can catch. Plus you have so many options. In fact, it is difficult to get bored there! Make sure you get in touch with one of their concierges in the reception as soon as you arrive and *before* making any dinner or other plans. Food is nothing extravagant but good enough. Rooms are wonderful, spacious, and super clean! So grab your beer and relaaaax!
“Very good, we're going back”
This place is awsome. The price was great. The drinks are good but a small tip will go far. The buffets are very good, however the resturants are about the same but take more time. No need to cry if you miss one of the resturants. There were a lot of kids. If that bothers you then look somewhere else.
“Superb Accommodations & Variety”
We stayed for a week December 2-9/07. This is actually three resorts in one, but really just one BIG resort! A 2-3 min. walk gets you to any of the other resorts to play or eat at, or there are shuttles all over. They are all beautifully clean and manicured, staff is friendly and helpful. The 7 buffets were huge with lots of selection and the al a cartes were good, altho we felt rushed at one and the fish wasn't great at the El Pescador. We liked the Portofino restaurant best. We mostly stayed around the Hybiscus pool & swimup bar at the Coba resort, and the small jaccuzi pool & bar El Iguana (premium brands here). We did find that drinks were watered down, however, we drank more to compensate and still had a great time! The bed in our Akumal jr. suite was horribly hard, be forewarned, but they may be different in the Tulum and Coba buildings. Akumal beach was very rocky and you couldn't go in the water, but the Tulum beach more than made up for it, very big and white sand. There is also the Coba beach between Akumal & Tulum, great also. Lots of activities going on, this is a really big place with lots to do. Would we return to this resort? In a heartbeat!
“We had a great time”
The hotel we stayed was very good,I would recommend it to anyone. The service, facilities, food, accomedations and food were great. My one and only complaint was the hard bed.(although I slept very well)
