Making the Conde Nast Gold List in 2011, this adults-only resort offers facilities for those who seek tranquility and a long list of sports and outings for those who want to stay active, including yoga and pilates classes, watersports, beach football and bicycle tours. Among more unusual pursuits offered here are shooting and archery. Tennis lessons and an outdoor tennis court are available.
Six swimming pools (two of them heated in cooler months) wind through the grounds, incorporating three spa tubs with ocean views, and complimentary pool cabanas; two separate spa tubs are found by the spa and the swim-up bar.
MIILE Spa offers the full range of deluxe spa services and facilities in a beautiful setting, including aqua massages, a cold plunge pool, water treatments and a Hammam. The fitness center features strength-training and cardio equipment, including treadmills, stationary bicycles, and stair machines. A fitness trail used by walkers, joggers, and bicyclists encircles the resort and passes by neighboring wetlands, offering glimpses of tropical birds, turtles, and even crocodiles.
Wireless Internet access is complimentary in the lobby for guests with personal laptops, and high-speed Internet access (surcharge) is provided at computers in the business center. Popular for weddings and other events, the resort provides a gazebo and white-sand beach for ceremonies as well as more than 16,000 square feet of meeting and exhibit space, much of it with ocean views.
The resort offers 8 restaurants, 6 bar/lounges, 2 poolside bars, a beach bar, a nightclub and a rooftop terrace. Room service is delivered with extra privacy in mind, with food and drink left in a pass-through box, which guests can access without opening their guestroom door.
An open-air theater with wide, upholstered rattan seats and drink tables provides comfortable viewing of the nightly performances of music and dance. A rountrip airport shuttle is available on request (surcharge).

The 440 suites of Excellence Riviera Cancún All Inclusive are housed in 9 buildings of four stories each. All suites have a private balcony or patio, furnished with upholstered built-in seating and chairs (ground-floor units also have a hammock). Views are of the ocean or pools.
King or double beds with triple sheeting and pillow menus come in all rooms. Marble bathrooms include a jetted tub, double vanities, a shower and a separate toilet with telephone. Plush white bathrobes, slippers, and scales add luxury touches. Private pass-through boxes allow delivery and pick-up of items without guests having to answer the door. Turndown service is provided.
High-speed Internet access is complimentary, 27-inch TVs feature satellite programming and CD/DVD players, and direct-dial phones have voice mail. Electronic in-room safes can accommodate laptops. Coffee/tea makers and minibars stocked with beer, juices, soft drinks, and water are also provided.
Some rooms have a second jetted tub on the balcony. Both smoking and nonsmoking rooms are available.

No reservations are required and no restrictions apply to the number of times guests can dine in any restaurant. Dress is casual for breakfast and lunch (no wet clothes, tank shirts, or swimsuits allowed; dress shoes, casual shoes, or sandals must be worn), and casual elegant for dinner (long pants, dress shirt, casual shoes, or elegant sandals for men; long pants, capri pants, skirt, blouse, casual shoes, or elegant sandals for women).
Chez Isabelle - Serves French cuisine and features a wine cellar; open for à la carte dinner.
Lobster House - Located under a palapa with ocean view. Open for all meals à la carte. Specializes in lobster dishes for dinner.
Spice - Japanese and other Asian delicacies; four teppanyaki tables allow chefs to do the cooking in front of guests. Elegant setting with stands of cut bamboo throughout the restaurant. Open for à la carte dinner only.
Oregano - This casual pizzeria and trattoria is open for lunch and à la carte dinner with favored ocean views.
Toscana - Fine dining restaurant with Italian cuisine. Open for à la carte dinner only.
Basmati - The newest resort restaurant specialises in the regional dishes of India's North-West frontier, mixing up tangy herbs, spices and cooking techniques against a dramatic backdrop. Open for à la carte dinner.
The Grill - This palapa thatched-roof restaurant is open most of the day, serving late à la carte lunch. For dinner, The Grill becomes a steakhouse. Overlooks the ocean, with a small upper-story housing several tables.
Agave - Featuring a carriage in front of its doors, a Mexican patio, and indoor seating, this restaurant serves Mexican specialties for à la carte dinner, along with a variety of tequilas.
Martini - This lounge is located in the lower-lobby area and is open from mid-morning.
Blue - A poolside bar with swim-up service offering cocktails, juice, and soft drinks. Open from mid-morning through the afternoon.
Sol - Located under a poolside palapa, this bar offers tropical drinks and snacks with beach and pool wait service from mid-morning through the afternoon.
Alegria Bar - American-style bar with music and a dance floor.
La Habana Cigar Bar - This cigar lounge opens in the evening.
Café Kafe - An espresso coffee bar open from mid-morning until after midnight; centrally located for many resort activities.
Revive Spa Bar - Next to the spa, this outdoor bar is open from mid-morning.
Stars - Bar service in the theater area by the stage; open evenings.

Guests can take advantage of kayaks, snorkeling gear, sail boats, and windsurfers to enjoy the turquoise water in front of this beachfront hotel. Because this water is in a protected area, access to the ocean with sports equipment incurs a Mexican government tax of US$2 per person, per stay. Those staying on land can play tennis, run on a trail that encircles the resort, join a game of volleyball or billiards, or try their hand at shooting or archery. Plus, the resort offers a 300-meter (985-foot) stretch of Riviera Maya beach for pure relaxation.
Hotel staff at Excellence Riviera Cancun All Inclusive can help arrange outings for other activities such as snorkeling tours, deep-sea fishing, and scuba diving (surcharges).
Guests enjoy discounted green fees for 18-hole rounds at Golf Playa Mujeres. Nine holes present an ocean view and nine holes have lake views (surcharges for rental equipment and caddy fees).

Spa
Excellence Riviera Cancun features MIILE SPA offering massages, aromatherapy and hydrotherapy treatments, body treatments and wraps, facial treatments, manicures and pedicures. The Spa includes 14 treatment rooms, hot springs/mineral springs, sauna, spa tub, spa boutique, and garden views. Advanced reservations are required for spa treatments and massages. Guests under 18 are not allowed in the spa.

“Best honeymoon spot”
Absolutely a stunning hotel, with great views, food, service, and amenities. We're already planning a trip back next year with friends!
“Beautiful Hotel”
The Excellence Riviera Cancun was a beautiful setting for relaxing and enjoying the setting. The facility was gorgeous. Beautiful pools, clean beach. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. For an all-inclusive setting, the food was wonderful, with many choices being offered. This is NOT a party hotel, people are there to relax, but it is perfect for just this reason!
“Would definitely stay there again”
The hotel was beautiful. The service was unbelieveable. The only fault I could find was the nightly entertainment. I thought the clubs opened too late. Also, the nicer restaurants had long waits for dinner. But overall it was a beautiful resort.
“Great place to rejuvenate”
From the moment the heavy gates open up to the entrance way, we were amazed! The resort was what we were looking for and more! The rooms were elegant and relaxing but romantic as well. The restaurants selection was great. The Lobster house was not the place for breakfast, a little slow for starting the day. The French restaurant was the most elegant for a romantic evening. The lunch buffet at the Barcelona was quick but also excellent food. If only we knew when the restaurants would close at least 2 days prior that would have helped. Our swim up pool was perfect and made it perfect for the quiet time but yet also to have friends over before dinner. They did offer off site packages but we just didn't get the time. I did enjoy the fact that you were not haselled for time share visits or any type of peddling. I could go on forever it was a great vacation and we would do it again!
“Perfect Honeymoon!”

“10th Anniversary Vacation”
We did not take a honeymoon, so our expectations on our 10th annivesary were quite high. Excellence Riviera did not let us down. The service was exceptional! We are particular about the quality of food and we were not disappointed. Room service was wonderful as well. If you are looking for a quality vacation without the party scene that can be found at other all-inclusives you will love this hotel.
“Received more than our money's worth”
First, I want to point out that, due to our crazy schedules, my husband and I have not had a vacation in 9 years. Our stay at the Excellence completely made up for that. The staff was extremely friendly, the resort was spotless, the food was excellent, and there was always something to do. My husband and I are planning to book something for next year at the Excellence again.
“Amazing Honeymoon Atmosphere”
My wife and I went here for our honeymoon. After a rough morning and running on 1.5 hours of sleep, we walked into what would appear to be the gates of heaven. Immediately on arrival we had warm towels handed to us to wipe off any sweat and our bags were quickly scurried away by very prompt bellmen. While we were checking in, they served us champagne and even though our room was not ready when we first got there (we were a bit early), we had an amazing lunch and had some ice cold Dos Equis. From here on out it was pure pleasure at this hotel. The staff was tremendously friendly, the food was above average to excellent - our favorite would have to be the Mexican restaurant on mariachi night - definitely check that one out! There are all sorts of events and music to check out...my favorite would have to be tequila tasting! Room was amazing (we had the swimout), however, the bed was not the most comfortable (was kinda hard). It never seemed crowded, but there were a lot of other lovebirds there and it was fun to get to know them. Amazing staff, beautiful scenery, and bars galore serving whatever your taste desires...you owe it to yourself to check Excellence out. We want to go back soon...maybe with friends so we have some drinking buddies :)
“A class act!”
Only one drawback - Swimming pools are not heated. Quite a shocking experience to go into the water. Few people actually did.
“BEST RESORT EVER!!!”
My husband and I went for our 18th anniversary and had the time of our lives. We were upgraded free of charge to club level. Stayed in buliding 7 which was close to everything. The resort was never crowded. We could always find chairs and palapas, which is not the case at a lot of Mexican resorts. The food was to die for, especially at Basmati. It was also very nice not having to make reservations to eat. The staff was extremely attentive, all over the resort. The nighttime entertainment was great. We loved sitting out and listening to music and having a drink and sharing laughs before bedtime. We spent a day in the spa, and it was hands down the best I have ever been to. We can't wait to go back!!!
