El Dorado Royal By Karisma All Inclusive offers 639 guest suites and casitas with thatched roofs and outside wood staircases. All suites include balconies or ground-floor terraces with hammock-like teak chairs. All suites feature marble floors and hardwood furniture, with marble countertops and flooring in the bathrooms. Jetted tubs in windowed bedroom alcoves furnish relaxation. Decor features light-colored walls and ceilings and Mexican-style dark-wood furniture. Bathrobes provide lounging comfort. Ceiling fans offer cooling alternatives to suites' air conditioning.
Minibars supply soft drinks, beer, and water refilled daily. Guestrooms also offer clock radios and alarm clocks, in-room safes, and flat-panel TVs with cable. Casita suites include aromatherapy and pillow menus, personal concierge service, and (aqua de amor) roofless showers; some offer private plunge pools.

The resort stretches along a mile long private white sandy beach on the Mexican Carribean. In addition to the Caribbean Sea, swimming options include a 30.5-by-15.25-meter (100-by-50-ft) saltwater pool.
Freshwater swimming is available in the other 12 on-site pools.
The resort provides snorkeling gear, pedal boats, and kayaks. An independent operator in the main pool provides introductory scuba-diving lessons, and the operator also offers scuba diving and snorkeling instruction and excursions for surcharges. Other recreational opportunities include two lighted tennis courts (racquets and balls provided) and bicycles.
Moon Palace golf course is 20 km (12.5 mi) from the resort, and Playacar golf course is 27 km (17 mi).
The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the resort; fees may apply.

“Great vacation!”
We went with a number of other couples. The hotel was wonderful, food was excellent, and the service was great. The only reason I gave the room a 4 was that the bed was hard.
“Fun in the Sun”
This is our third time back to this resort. We like that it is adult only. We like the location and the rooms. We like that the restaurants are gourmet.
“Honeymoon?...Not so much!”
When we intially booked this trip with Expedia, we had told them that this was our honeymoon. We were told that they would make a notation for the hotel to make this trip memorable. When we arrived at the hotel, we gave the front desk our marriage certificate and they made a copy and sent us to the concierge. The concierge then told us that they could not accomodate our requests since it was past 60 days since our marriage. We were unable to take our honeyoon right away due to his job, but we were never told of the restrictions upon booking. I think this was the most disappointing moment of the trip since we were celebrating such a great part of our lives. The overall hotel stay, but there was nothing special that made this different than any other trip. We were expecting alot and we were hurt with the way the concierge handled the situation. They didnt attempt to appologize for this or make any special arrangements. Although the stay was nice, it could have been even better if we could have felt like we were on our honeymoon. On the other hand the pools were great with lots of activities. The food was also great.
“Outstanding resort”
The hotel was wonderful! The staff, cleanliness, food, accommodations were outstanding. Live music for listening and dancing can be heard every evening, and talented entertainers provide various themed shows each night. Many hotels at resorts in the tropics feature staff as their main entertainers for the nightly shows--not here. The only negative is the beach. Huge standbags and rocks limit swimming. However, everything else is so great that, unless you love swimming in the ocean, you will not be disappointed.
“Honeymoon paradise!!”
We just got back from our honeymoon at the el dorado royale and we had an awesome time! The food is really good! It is more on the gourmet side but do have cheese burgers and pizzas during lunch! The beds on the beach are great, but if you are looking to do many ocean activities on site it is not the best because there are sandbags everywhere in the water to protect the beach! All in all a great trip and great resort would recommend! Kampai was my favorite restaurant!!
“A romantic, tropical paradise!!”
If you are looking for a beautiful, romantic get-away this resort is perfect!! We had a swim-up jacuzzi suit and loved it! The room was beautiful and romantic with gauze curtains around the bed. The large bathroom had a tile shower that was perfect for two. The ease of exiting your room and lounging on chairs in the water of the lazy river was heavenly. Also very convenient to swim to the near by pool bar for a cocktail and conversation. There was a waiter who did come around to the swim up rooms and take cocktail orders which was very nice. The food and service were both excellent. Never had reservations and did not wait long to get in for dinner. Excellent selection of top shelf alcohol and a great variety of fun mixed drinks. Drinks were mixed well and they were not stingy with the alcohol! The beaches were beautiful with plenty of lounge chairs and beach beds. Mile long white sand beach to walk - the water was clean and beautiful. If you are looking to do a lot of swimming in the ocean the beach is a bit rocky but we didn't mind because there was an abundance of fantastic salt water pools to lounge in. It was the perfect romantic vacation and we will definiately be back. We are already talking about when we can come back again. Next time we will try a swim-up jacuzzi suit in the neighboring Casitas which also look fantastic! The hotels share grounds and amenities. An A+ and highly recommended!!
“Relaxing and romantic way to spend an anniversary!”
Our vacation at El Dorado Royale FAR exceeded our expectations. From start to finish, the staff were courteous, friendly, and helpful. The hotel and grounds were exceptionally well kept. The bars were top notch and the food was incredible. This is an absolutely fantastic resort and spa for a great value!!
“Great hotel”
We had a wonderful experience at the hotel. It was beautiful and relaxing and the service was excellent. The only negative thing was the condition of the beach. They have huge sandbags in the water which make it an eye sore and not good for swimming. That was the only disappoint. The water was still beautiful but very obstructed by the sandbags.
“El Dorado Royale”
This hotel is very nice, but the main rooms (i.e. anything except the casitas) are a little outdated. Our hot water went out and the air conditioning put out high humidity air (not necessary in this region), which made everything wet and sticky. The beach is terrible too. They are trying to grow coral reefs and have giant sandbags all over the beach. It looks like a school of whales beached themselves. It's also very rocky. All of that being said, the food and alcohol are all above average and the people are warm and welcoming.
“Loved It!”
I really enjoyed my stay at El Dorado. I am afraid to try any other hotel becuase I most likely will be disappointed. The staff was friendly and took care of our needs and the location was beautiful. I will be back next year!
