“Very relaxing and fun time!”
I went to Blue Bay with friend to relax, and it was everything we wanted it to be. The room was very nice and comfortable. We did have trouble with our safe, which was a little worrisome, but after the second time they fixed it, it was good for the rest of the week. The food was excellent! Our favorite was the french restaurant. Definitely make your reservation the morning before, as they fill up very quickly. We went on one day trip to Cozumel, and it was a fantastic day. Talk to Best Day travel, as they were very helpful and we loved the trip! We didn't do many activities at the resort, but we enjoyed time in the sports bar. The evening shows were corny, but we enjoyed checking them out for a bit. The drinks are definitely not strong, but were good. Best drink was the mojito. The beach was beautiful, which made up for the size. We had trouble getting beachside service, but the bar is a very short walk away. Overall, I'm very happy with Blue Bay, and I would definitely go back if I was returning to the area!
“Can't wait to visit their other locations!”
We stayed at the Blue Bay for 5 or 6 days and we wished we could stay longer. The staff was super friendly and our room was cleaned everyday. The restaurants were lovely, and the all inclusive deal was worth it.
“If i have to go back to Playa del Carmen, i will choose Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda”

“Ignore the bad reviews”
Great hotel, great stay. Ignore the bad reviews. We stayed for four night and had a wonderful time. We have stayed at several All-inclusive resorts and this one was by far the best. The foor at the BBGE was excellent, one of the best buffets I have ever had. The service of the resort staff was great and a few tips will go a long way. The beach was churned up by the weather (no fault of the resort) but the beach at Tulum more than made up for it. Someone posted a review about murders in Playa, I seriously doubt this and would do your own homework on the safety before you go.
“Very nice hotel”
The hotel is huge. We booked a standard room initially but upgrade when we arrived - Standard rooms are located near the front of the resort/lobby which is quite of a walk to the beach and main pool (they have a separate pool near that location as well). The hotel is a 10 minute ride to downtown Playa del Carmen - about $13. The restaurants and buffet's were great, people were very nice and food was great.
“We'll be back next year!”
We loved this hotel! We went with 2 other couples and the hotel was very helpful in booking all of our rooms on the same floor, same building. The food was the best I've had at any all inclusive resort. There was a huge selection, and everything seemed very fresh. The staff was extremely friendly, especially the bartenders at our pool. The drinks were strong, and they kept them coming. The resort is large, but I didn't find the walks bad at all, since the grounds were beautiful and well maintained (and they really aren't all that far). Our room was spotless, and everything worked fine. The other 2 couples were equally impressed, and we will all be back next year!
“Loved the resort...”
We loved the resort. We were there to rest and relax and that we did. Hours for resturants were flexible or you would stop by the buffet and grab something quick. The resort is HUGE...so bring comfy shoes. The staff especially at the pool and beach were great. Very attentive and fun. We used airport transportation with Best Day Travel and they were great too. We would definitely return to Blue Bay.
“AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!!!!”
Absolutely loved this resort. It was so much more than we expected. The resort is beautiful. Even nicer than the pictures on the website. Staff is friendly. Drinks are strong. Will definately return and stay at Blue Bay.
“Great experienece”
My girlfriend and I (22 and 23) took the trip as a break from grad school... it was awesome. Neither of us have made a trip to Mexico before nor to an all inclusive resort so we were excited but did not know exactly what to expect. The staff is beyond friendly and always smiling (despite other reviews we read). The activity coordinators remembered us by name throughout our entire stay and we made friends with 2 bartenders. The drinks are as good as to be expected but a little too sugary. Simply walk to any bar and ask for what you want, we ordered a double bacardi and "coke lite" mostly but mojitos were popular too. The staff was always helpful although they all thought we were just married or engaged, we are not but it was funny for them all to think so. There were many other couples there from all over the US, many Australians,a few Europeans and a good number of families from Latin America. Taxis to playa del carmen are responsibly cheap. They seat 4 people so we waited by the lobby until we saw another couple going and split the cab fare that way. If you go into town BRING your bathing suits because the beaches there are beautiful. The water at the hotel isn't fantastic but suitable for wading in to cool off and the beach is sandy white and pretty nice. I would certainly recommend this hotel to friends or anyone who's all -inclusive standards are not through the roof!
“Great all inclusive”
Pros - Clean rooms, beautiful grounds, overall great good (especially the casual restaurant, Mexican, and Italian places). Drinks are fantastic top shelf. Cons - can't go to the casual restaurant w/ any piece of your body wet??? The steak sucks. Long long walk from rooms to restaurants.
