“Awesome Honeymoon!”
Very good time! My wife and I were on our honeymoon and we couldn't have picked a better place in Mexico! The weather was amazing, the beach is awesome at this resort. The beach here is way better than what we heard nearby resorts had. Also, if you want to set up a day trip, its as easy as going to the lobby and they arrange everything/ even a pick up. You can do just about anything from zip-lining to driving ATV's to swimming with dolphins. The food was wonderful--my wife and I ate 6 or 7 times a day! As long as you had the wristband you could get drinks at any bar as well. We spent the whole trip just relaxing and being pampered by the resort. The nice nightly restaurants were very good--especially the Japanese style one. We got 4 nightly restaurant coupons for the 6 nights we were there--thats pretty good in my book! The nightly entertainment was interesting as well. They had something going on every night and it was always unique. Overall, a great experience. I would definitely recommend it.
“Will come back with my friends”
We were upgraded to the Palace had a great time from the moment we arrived until we left. The buffets had a great variety so we always found something wonderful to eat. If you plan on eating in the restaurant make reservations for your full stay on your first morning since they fill up fast. The shows were all top quality enjoyed one every night. The hotel and grounds were immaculate and the staff never walked by you without a smile and a "Hola". My favorite was probably the fact that you can snorkel right off the beach. We saw lots of fish, sting rays, sea turtles (look in the sandy grassy areas), I even saw a squid the last morning. The Bahama Mamas were made with fresh bananas so I got another serving of fruit with each one although my husband liked the miami vices better. We will defiantly be back still have more to see and learn about the mayan culture in the aera.
“Great place to stay!!!”
We really enjoyed everything about this hotel!! Food was great, service was good, pools and scenery were amazing. The included watersports like aquabikes were fun. Rooms were very nice.
“Would Go Back!”
We enoyed this hotel very much! We were there in June 2009 with a party of 20 and there was something for everyone. The pool area was great and the beach was very nice. The grounds at the resort were beautiful and very well kept. There were many activities to participate in that were included. The Japanese and Seafood restaurant were very good but the Italian & Steak house were disappointing. The buffet restaurants were also good. There was plenty of variety. The staff at the hotel were extremely friendly. I would definitely go back to the Maya Tropical.
“Amazing and will go back!!!!”
This was an amazing vacation. Kids loved the waterpark, food was great, staff was amazing. Could not be happier. We loved it!!!!
“Best all inclusive I've ever stayed”
Great location, beach, pool, food, room all top notch. Best Mexico vacation I've experienced.
“Love the Sun”
We had a great time. We had a large group and for some of the formal dinners the hotel could not seat us in one group - thus we had two tables of 6. Food was good, hotel staff were friendly, activities were great.
“Would recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area”
We were extremely happy with everything with this hotel. I went with my sister and we felt at home at this resort. Great food, great everything!
“Concierge could use lessons in customer service!”
Everything about our stay at Barcelo Maya was great with the exception of the concierge and a couple of the bartenders. Our check in process was prompt and the agents were friendly. Housekeeping missed us on our first day so we had to order in-room dining to get coffee the next day. Several times we approached the concierge desk for information and each time we were treated as if we were a bother and our questions were answered with no offer for more information or if we needed anything else. The 3 different concierges we spoke with did not have very good English skills either and this made a simple question like "what time does the bus run from Tulum to Coba?" a difficult conversation. It seemed thier only job was to sell tours or keep the wrong guests out of the VIP lounges. On one occassion a lady and her son walked into the VIP lounge/internet cafe and asked us how to use the computer and as I was offering to let her use the one I had been using the conceriege rushed into the room to let her know that she could not be there as this was only for guests with gold wrist bands. They would watch those lounges like a hawk! While it is nice to have exclusive use of an internet cafe, I think this resort could train thier concierge better in the idea of customer service! Overall the place is excellent but dont expect much help from the concierge desk!
“Could have stayed longer!”
