“Awesome resot but poor beach”
Stayed 4 nights. Awesome service, great food (thai food is supereb). Went to spa had swedish and balinese massage and did hydrotherapy.Do the balinese massage for 90 minutes. We had spa villa great privacy and ambieance. Only problem is that beach is a 10 minute bike ride and the beach was unwelcoming. Dirty beach, and water.. Cancuns beaches way better. Also for a 1.5 yr old resort some issues with exterior paint on villa and around prvt pool...But its hard to beat the Banyan Tree for service, food and zehn like ambiance...
“Simply the best”
Banyan Tree Mayakoba is simply the best vacation spot we've been to. The privacy of the villas, each with individual pool and pavilions, and some with outdoor showers, is wonderful. The three restaurants (four, including the beach restaurant) serve world-class food. The service is amazing - they spend the time to get to know the guests and their preferences. The beach is lovely, and the boat ride through the canals is charming and full of wildlife. I would recommend this as one of the finest resorts in the world.
“simply wonderful”
from check in to check out everything is just perfect!
“eager to stay at other hotels in this chain”
My husband and I had a wonderfully relaxing time at the Banyan Tree Mayacoba in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Our villa was well-appointed, luxurious and private. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor space around the private pool (which was a bit too cold to use in mid December.) The staff was extremely attentive. The daily brunch (included in our rate) was amazing - a plethora of options from fresh pastries and fruit to hearty Mexican dishes. The food at the beach club was also good. We weren't huge fan of the restaurants on site, but they were worth trying. I would definitely recommend that others seek out a couple options in the town of Playa del Carmen, ranging from extremely economical local fair to more trendy outfits - the two places we ate were delicious!. Playa is only a short cab ride or drive. We rented a car at the airport, which was great for getting around independently to visit Playa, Chichen Itza, and to go snorkeling.
“Nice place”
Room was very nice bed very comfortable high quality sheets and pillows. Very relaxing, if you are going to the area to party this is not the place for you, laid back with a high end touch. Great service, only complait would be the high prices for mini bar and snacks, $5us for a can of coke? All in all would recommend
“Banyan Tree sets standard for luxury”
First, the overall design and layout of the resort are terrific. Banyan Tree is small and very private. The drive in the cab through the mangroves to the resort from the main highway served to enhance your sense of privacy. When you pulled up to the main lobby, the architecture and the general design were striking. Even though you've seen pictures, they don't do the location justice. The staff are waiting to greet you, call you by your name and immediately begin the pampering and excellent service you will come to expect throughout the resort. The villas are beautiful and the pool, outside seating and dining areas truly allow you to enjoy the private space each villa provides. The inside appointments are equally terrific. The dining at all of the various resort restaurants was absolutely a highlight. From the signature cocktails to the gourmet food and the excellent service, we were extremely satisfied. The excellent service and overall friendly demeanor of literally every resort employee was one of the things we liked the most about our stay. Having literally everyone, from your waiter to the person edging the lawns (who typically stops what they are doing as you approach and pass) say hello and wish you a wonderful day makes your stay that much more special. In particular, the wait staff at Oriente, where the breakfast buffet was served, were particularly delightful. The beach club, the spa, the buggy, bicycle and boat rides---everything was wonderful. I can't say enough!
“Heavenly hotel”
Exceptional hotel with beautiful villas and great service. Very clean, comfortable and luxurious.
“5 stars all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
If anyone reviewed this resort and gave it any less than five stars then they either work at a competing resort or are just simply crazy. We have been all over Mexico and the Caribbean and Banyan Tree was by far the nicest . It made the Ritz in the Cayman islands look like a Budget Inn. Food great, service great and Villa Great!!! Would go back in a second.
“Banyan...a true 5 STAR”
An outstanding property, just beautiful. Great service and a extraordinary beach. The food is great, albeit a little pricey. This truly is a 5 star resort....there is nothing negative.
“Absolutely first class”
We spent seven days at the Banyan Tree Mayakoba and are already planning to go back. World class service, serene, luxurious surroundings and a convenient location near Playa del Carmen make this hotel the best in the area. The beach is perhaps narrow, but beautiful nonetheless, and with the pampering of the friendly staff we spent many a lazy day just lounging, reading, sleeping and enjoying the food and drinks. If you need to relax, GO HERE! It was also useful to have a rental car to get to nearby attractions such as Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Akumal and Tulum. If money is no object you can book your activities (e.g., fishing or to Chichen Itza) through the travel office, though we used a travel service in Playa for half the cost.
