This is not a 5 star property. I’m baffled by the rave reviews. Rooms are sizable, but very dated and not thoughtfully planned. Only one outlet in the room on one side of the bed, mold in the shower, fixtures rickety, no door to bathroom area. Food is so so awful. Tasteless to downright terrible. Greasy, mystery meats, stale chips, overcooked or undercooked foods. After the first 2 days we mostly ate out at Lo hol down the beach or in Tulum. Staff is very kind, but not 5 star. When asking for directions to anywhere on or off the property we often got, “oh it’s that way” with a hand waved in a general area. While beach water is lovely to look at, beach is short and covered with seaweed and several feet of rocks. The Secrets hotel right next door has a lovely beach- they should follow their lead. Beach towels thread bare and many beach chairs broken. Drinks available at beach (drink service was very good at beach!), but no food service. Overall with a big rehab and completely new menu it could move up a star, but having traveled frequently and stayed at a few all inclusives I can confidently say this is a 3 star hotel.

I was traveling with my 14-year-old grandson for spring break; his first trip to Mexico. I didn't want the craziness of Cancun but still wanted the beauty of the Caribbean. This resort was beautiful and low key. The staff were so attentive and friendly. Tip accordingly. There are varied restaurant choices for dinner. We mostly ate at the buffet, which offered so many choices for my picky eater, but the Brazilian steak house was a favorite. We appreciated the 24-hour snack bar; 14-year-old boys are always hungry! We also took the 10-minute walk down the beach to Akumal village a couple of times. They have a few little tourist gift shops, but the real draw is the Turtle Bay Cafe and Bakery. We had a delicious dinner, and the homemade ice cream is the best! The nightly musical entertainment at the resort was very good, and we could enjoy it sitting on our balcony. There is snorkeling and SUP available. The staff also helped us choose an excursion to Kantun-Chi Eco Park. What an extraordinary experience! Be sure to take water-friendly shoes. You need to walk over some uncomfortable rocks to get out into the water, but it's worth it. We spent hours in the water and could see fish and rays swimming by just standing there. I highly recommend this resort for a very relaxing experience. Because it is so laidback, I'd recommend an excursion or two to entertain the teenagers. There is plenty to see and do in the area.

This property is absolutely beautiful. The rooms need some serious TLC, but the grounds and views are gorgeous. Clean for the most part, food ok. What made our family trip the best was Adiel the activities director he is amazing and we would go back just to see him.

This was our 4th time back and we wouldn't stay any other place. For us, it is the wellness part of the resort that we REALLY appreciate - 5 yoga and meditation classes a day and a fantastic spa. The yoga and meditation instructors are amazing - Hiram, Ben, Barbara, and Rafael. New spa manager Paula is fantastic and massages from Martha are heavenly. The rest of the staff are wonderful and of course the location can't be beat. If you are looking for a chill vibe and wellness if more of your goal, this is a perfect place!

We keep coming back for a large part the Wellness Program with Hiram, Barbara and Raphael. It is also a beautiful resort on a secluded, protected bay with an excellent staff, dining options and nightly entertainment. Another plus we are able to snorkel off the beach to a protected reef. Please bring your short fins and reef friendly sunscreen to protect the reef and animal life.

The property is great if you want a very nice and laid back vacation. It was our first time there, but we met a lot of couples that had been returning for many years. There's a reason for that. The staff is amazing, friendly, and very helpful and the food is good. We will be returning and I would recommend to friends and family.

Akumal was amaizing, I highly reccomend snorkling with the turtles. The resort is very laid back which my wife and I were looking for. If you're into heavy entertainment, activies all day, bars that are bumping this is not your spot. But if you want relaxed and chill it's very enjoyable. We got massages and the spa was great as well. Food wasn't the best we've ever had at an all inclusive but it was above average. The Brazillian Steakhouse was by far our favorite. Our only small snafu was one day we had to ask three times to get the bottled water replenished in our room, but other than that incident the staff was incredbily courteous, kind and helpful. I definitely highly reccomend the resort.

My wife and I came here for our 35 anniversary. There was a little bit of a hiccup on the first day with room service. But the staff and hotel made it right and treated us like VIPs the whole time we were there. The Spa and spa staff were wonderful and the restaurants treated so very very nicely. Food was wonderful and the staff around the resort were so nice. We are planing to return this may with our family.

The property was so beautiful and the service was excellent! They were doing renovations in some of the rooms in the building we were in, so the noise in the daytime was loud. But the rooms are in need of updating, so I’m glad they are doing it. We were not in the room much during the daytime anyway because there were plenty of shaded Bali Beds where we were able to enjoy afternoon naps while listening to the ocean sounds. I do not recommend ordering room service. My husband ordered a Caesar salad and we are pretty sure the dressing had gone bad in the heat by the time it got to our room. He became very ill and had to go to the hospital. The resort doctor was very kind and the hospital they sent us to provided excellent care and they made sure we got back to resort safely and in time to meet our ride to the airport. Overall it was a very relaxing vacation. The spa was beautiful and the massages were wonderful! We look forward to returning someday when the renovations are completed.

This resort is on Akumal Bay, with great snorkeling. Put on a mask and fins and there are turtles, rays, and numerous other fish (albeit a bit of a distance out but it’s a shallow bay). The hard corals are in terrible condition. Grounds are nice. Lots of iguana, agoutis and even a coati. We stayed in a ground level room, which gave an extended, semi-private deck. We loved using the individual hot tubs after coming out of the ocean. The room itself was large with a full closet. The buildings and furniture need a refresh although they are clean. Just old and worn. Our outside light didn’t work, and the door to the patio didn’t lock. There were just three outlets in the room. One was hidden behind cabinet and was used by the mini refrigerator and coffee pot. Another had one plug occupied by the telephone. That left just three places to plug in chargers. Be sure to bring a power strip! Staff were always friendly and helpful but overall they seemed understaffed. Restaurant service, especially at the snack bar, was often slow, although it seemed to improve as the week progressed. Food was adequate, but we are not “foodies”. Housekeeping was good but often there was a shortage of towels, both in the room and at the pool. Again, not enough staff? Getting service (new batteries for the safe, bath towels in the evening, unplugging the jacuzzi) was slow, and sometimes required multiple requests. Despite the shortcomings, we recommend it!

The best part of this resort was the beach and the reefs to snorkel. The staff are phenomenal, always have a smile on their faces and will go out of their way to please their guests. The restaurants were excellent with a huge buffet, and amazing seafood. My favorite was Lima, the Peruvian, and the sushi on the beach.
