A very nice hotel with amazingly friendly staff and good location - not directly at the beach but only a few minutes away from it and in a very convenient area with stores and banks and restaurants,l etc. If you can I recommend to take the "superior" room it was very cute and nicely designed :). We really loved our stay there.

“Nice Hotel, Nice Location, Friendly Staff”

Mar Ipanema Hotel is only a short walk to Ipanema beach and about a 45 min walk to Copacobana beach, depending on your speed. The neighborhood was pretty safe. You could walk around at night without feeling nervous, although I was with my husband. There are a lot of malls in the area, if you want to shop. We found ourselves walking to Copacobana pretty often to go to restaurants that our friends recommended. The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. I bought a juice that required a bottle opener and I didn't have one, so they opened the restaurant to find me one. The hotel was clean and the wifi worked fine. The bed was firm, but all of the beds in Rio are pretty firm. The hotel was nice and clean. The staff was helpful and the location was good.

Perfect place to stay for a young couple visiting Rio. Location cannot be beat. Safe, one block from Ipanema beach near Leblon (one of best locations), on the major shopping avenue, and right next door to the Devassa brewery, which is a popular place to get a beer and steak sandwich.

“Amazing location”

The neighborhood is really safe and nice, with a lot of restaurants and bars at walking distance. The hotel is very new and fairly comfortable. You should try the "sucos" places around the hotel. Those fruit juices are amazing.

“Very Modern”

I was allowed to check in an hour early. The room is very clean and modern decor. Bed was on the hard side, but quite comfortable. The suites are on the first two floors, not the top floors like most hotels. There is no view of the ocean, but only a 2 block walk from Posto 10, one of the best parts of Ipanema. Free WiFi is included.

“Awesome Customer Service”

We spent 2 nights at the Mar Ipanema as it was our first time in Rio and Ipanema Beach was suggested over Copacabana. The hotel is located 2 blocks from the beach and we felt extremely comfortable walking around the area. The room was ready when we arrived and every last detail was taken care of. The front desk staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area. They were able to arrange a city tour for us at a reasonable price as well as recommend and get reservations to a wonderful churrascarria nearby. Their rate included a hot breakfast in the adjacent bar/restaurant every morning. The choices were fresh and plentiful. Upon checking out they cheerfully held our luggage as our flight was not until late that evening and cheerfully kept the cooler bag with my meds in a refrigerator so as not to rely on the ice packs for 24 hours. They also arranged for a safe taxi to the international airport for a fixed rate (very important with the evening traffic). To say we were impressed would be an understatement; Mar Ipanema was a first rate experience and we would be happy to recommend them to our friends. Needless to say when we return to Rio this will be our hotel of choice.

“The Gem of Ipanema”

Mar Ipanema Hotel is a lovely, reasonably priced hotel in the heart of the Ipanema neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro. The staff here is exceedingly friendly and welcoming. They were very helpful making dinner reservations and providing tips and suggestions for things to do around Rio. Only 2 blocks from the beautiful Ipanema beach, the hotel supplies beach blankets, chairs and umbrellas, all free of charge. The hotel also offers a delicious hot breakfast buffet everyday with local favorites like pao de queijo and fresh fruit juices. The rooms are stylish and impeccably clean, and each has a minibar and flat screen TV with dozens of channels in several languages. I LOVE MAR IPANEMA HOTEL and I will stay here every time I come back to Rio de Janeiro.
