“EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS”
Considering this is a lower end hotel it exceeded m expectations. The location was excellent because it was right near the beach and many restaurants. Security was good and they had internet. The rooms are not luxurious but it is a high rise building and therefore have a feeling of safety. Many australian travellers stayed here.
“Very good for the price, great breakfast and people are nice but not always reliable”
Hotel Bandeirantes is a great place if you intend to be out and about most of the time. If you sleep late, request rooms facing the back, since even on the last floor the front is noisy - the hotel faces one of the busiest avenues in Copacabana. You can always go to the pool on the top for the view. Also the water pressure in the shower is weak on top floors so you may want to stay below the 9th. The rooms are functional - no carpets which is great, TV and phone work but the internet and phone service are a bit expensive (they need money somehow !). I left a more complicate instruction at the front desk and it did not flow to the late night person but they were good in being sorry. I would recommend this hotel for the location, price and cleanliness.
“nothing special, but okay”
Good location. No special amenities. Wish they had internet service.
“Excellent location-”
This is a 2 1/2 star hotel and for the money I don't believe you can beat it. It is two blocks from Copacabana Beach (Avenida Atlantica) and close to all of the five star hotels which you can visit for drinks or dinner. Breakfasts are included and are generous and bountiful. Reception service is not the best, they refused to give me a copy of my bill as submitted to Expedia (as if I were incidental to the transaction). You can rent an in room safety box for 5 rials a day which relieves worries. I have already recommended it.
“Not the Ritz”
It was a bed and it provided shelter. Nothing special. Decent breakfast.
“Hotel Bariantes”
Hotel propre mais sans caractère et impersonnel. A la réception, aimable mais sans plus répondant aux questions sans beaucoup d'entrain. Points +++ : sa situation et sa piscine sur la terrase
“Only good thing about this place was the breakfast....”
The hotel front desk was disorganised, always rude and no-one could speak English which is very disconcerning for the English traveller. They were not helpful at all and when we got mugged, and we asked them for help, they told us to go to the police. They only called the police for us when we begged them to help us. Initially they gave us room P6 which has the hoisiest air conditioner, and fridge. We couldn't sleep with all that noise. When they moved us to another room, the aircon was only slightly less noisy and we were told that that was the norm. When we were waiting for our emergency money to arrive (took 48 hours) we asked the hotel if we could take a loan out on our room and pay them when the cash arrived, they point blank refused, so we went hungry for 3 days. As the title says, the only redeeming thing about the hotel was the breakfasts. There was enough variety. For us, breakfast was a time to fill up because they wouldn't help us out with money so we had to make extra breadrolls for lunch and dinner. All in all, even though this place was cheaper than other places, I am not sure I would stay here again. I would rather pay a little more. even the hostel down the road was friendlier, more helpful, and had more atmosphere!
“Stay only if you have a limited budget”
also consider other hotels at Ipenema as well...
“that was the worst hotel experience in my life”
does not wort that much cost, do not assume there is internet, safe in room , you have to pay extra for these. only one receptionist can speak english. Rooms are not clean. do not turn on AC you may be deaf due to noise.
“Don't Stay in This Hotel”
Since I have two kids and didn't see a room option for 4 people then I decided to call the hotel before I booked it. I talked to a manager of the hotel who told me to select the Triple-European room which I paid 30%/day extra . When I got there the same manager was a the front-desk and told me that he never heard about triple-european room and they dont have such configuration. He told me that I had to pay another 20%/day extra for a quad-room. I tried to remind him but he was rude and didn't want to listen andthis wasn't the only issue. The hotel is dirty, the rooms are very small, bathroom has no toilet paper, the service is amazingly bad, they charge $0.10c/min for wifi and they dont care about you. Very very rude people , dont stay in this hotel. I live in Phoenix but I am Brazilian and I know Brazilian people and hotels. I arrived on Monday with the plan to stay through the week but I left on Thursday because I and my family were very unhappy. I saw lots of Europeans downstairs unhappy as well with the rudeness and poor quality. I stayed at a hotel one block from Bandeirantes and it was totally different. Stay away from this hotel if you want to have a good time in Brazil.
