“"Aloft" is one of my new favorites”
Style, comfort, convenience for a very reasonable price. Brand new, and very wired in....flat screen on the wall; plugs for ipad; ipods; lap tops. Right in the heart of Glen Allen, within walking distance to restaurants; trader Joes; Whole Foods; Dave and Busters. Much of the clientele is younger, although we weren't. Everyone is friendly. We loved it.
“good stay for most part”
The parking deck and the parking lot are still under construction - slight inconvenience. No ice machines on the floor - had to go to the bar to get some. Rooms are small but efficiently designed. The bed is surprisingly comfortable. I like that it has shower in the bathroom instead of bath tub. There are lots of restaurant choice nearby. The hotel is fairly new and clean. Hotel designed with younger crowd in mind - I've been to other ALoft hotels; some cane be very noisy and bustling. Free internet access. I'd stay again for a right price. It was nice that I was allowed to check out 2 hrs. later than usual check-out time of 12 pm to better fit my schedule.
“"Not Impressed"”
Maybe for the Younger groups that enjoy the happy hour gathering and ect but for the older group "No Way"

I would definitely recommend this hotel.
“Impressive First Visit”
This was our first stay at Aloft and we found it to be a very good experience. The amenities are all in place and the beds of course were fabulous. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The location is very convenient to Richmond center and very convenient to all the Short Pump area has to offer. We would not hesitate to stay again!
“Would like to visit other Alofts”
Overall, It was worth it and I would return. First off, my Google Maps phone app didn't take me there. We went about 5 minutes out of the way and had to call to get accurate street names. Finding the entrance was strange but I kind of knew we should have just went to the parking deck first but hubby insisted he saw another way. No mention of the 2 free drinks special at check-in. Key card didn't work, hubby had to go down and get another. Went to get drinks, stopped to ask front desk about the special. Dont remember what she said but I do remember when we checked out, there was a $16 charge for two drinks and front desk didn't know how to refund. Nice atmosphere. Great location. Wish rooms were a little bit bigger.
“A couple glitches but overall good”
In general, this is a great place to stay at a VERY reasonable cost. The staff was friendly and the other guests in the common areas seemed to be having fun. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed. It is in a weird, but convenient location. You turn in as if you are going to Whole Foods and the hotel is behind the retail. Once you found it, no problem! And there is lots of good shopping and food nearby. The two glitches were: 1. the AC in my room did not work very well, which was problematic since the overnight temp outside was in the 80's. They provided a nice heavy comforter, but it was certainly not needed! I spoke with the front desk about it on my last day but nothing had been done, so I barely slept my third night because I was too hot. If you do not need a cold room to sleep, this would not be a problem for you. 2. They missed cleaning up my room one day. I had a DO NOT DISTURB sign on for a couple hours in the morning, took it off mid-morning and found the room unmade when I returned at 11:00pm. Then, when they cleaned the room the next day, they missed a bunch of dirt in the bathroom. Since it was from my toiletries, I did not get too upset because the room had been very clean when I checked in. However, I hope the next person gets a better cleanup after I checked out!
“Not too impressed”
Hotel is based in an excellent location. You will have many shops, restaurants and everything else around you (within walking distance as well). The hotel iself looks very modern, however, it seems as though the walls dividing the hotel rooms are made out of 'paper walls' because I could hear telephone conversations and everything from our neighboor. This woke me up early in the morning and I am a heavy sleeper too. Other than this, the hotel is fine.
“Style over substance”
I don't think you will see other hotel chains copying this "it seemed like a good idea at the time" layout anytime soon. It might work for big cities where first floor spaces might be at a premium, but in Richmond and other small cities? Totally not necessary. Having to take two seperate elevators to go to your room gets rather annoying; you can take the stairs to the main lobby on the second floor as an option but if you are carrying more than one piece of luggage item, your annoyance factor doubles. Now that the parking deck is finished, it is nice to park your car in the shade - a plus in sweltering Richmond heat. The room layout is efficient and bed is comfortable. No ice machine is ... eh, annoying. But before you get annoyed with my annoyance, there are pluses. Complimentary bottle of water is nice, knowing that you won't get socked 5 bucks for 25 cent bottle of water like other chains. Also, the hotel let me check out 2 hours later than usual checkout time. They also let you check in earlier too, if the room is ready. Some hotel chains are notoriously rigid about check-in and check-out times.
“Cool Hotel, Modern and different”
Although still under what looks like the final stages of some outdoor construction this hotel is very impressive. Not super luxurious but all of the architectural details are funky, modern and very cool. I like their green touches such as recycle bins in the rooms. the design is not your average hotel. Stay here if you want something out of the ordinary. We loved it. PS the "drinks on us" add on is a sham. Doesn't cover booze!!!!WTF
