“Great Hotel”
I had a great time. The breakfast buffet was varied and delicious.
“Warm and friendly”
Staff were really friendly and very accommodating. The hotel had modern facilities and was very cozy.
“Fab boutique hotel in perfect location”
Fab boutique hotel right in the heart of Reykjavik. Room a good size, with beautiful decor and no noise from neighbouring rooms or nightclub (as others have reported). Staff cannot do enough to help you, but are not overbearing. Breakfast plentiful and varied. All in all, would defo recommend and RETURN soon
“Icelandic stay”
Great location, great comfort, superb room, problems with parking.
“Awesome location!”
Great location with a very helpful staff. Rooms are small for US standards, but very clean and nicely decorated. Definitely recommend!
“Nice boutique hotel in a great location”
My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and I would say overall this far exceeded our expectation. The hotel is in a fantastic location right just off in the middle of the main street and within a walking distance to all the restaurants and bars. The staff were very friendly and helped us book our tours and confirmed bus pickups etc. The room was decent sized and clean although one thing my wife was complaining about was the hair dryer, it kept over heating and cutting off after 10 seconds and you had to wait for it to cool down and then turn it on again, so after a while she just gave up, not a big deal for me but maybe for her it was. Also can't complain about free wifi. Other reviewers mentioned the noise from the nearby bars and I can understand what they mean, we were on the 3rd floor and could still hear it, but just barely and didn't bother us at all (this was a Saturday night, all other nights were super quiet). I guess it's kinda expected as you're just off the main street. So I would suggest if you don't like that, maybe ask for a room on the 4th floor or go during the week. We always try to book a place that provides breakfast so that we don't need to rush around and find a place to eat in the morning and the selection was decent enough from yoghurt, toast, bacon and eggs to pastries. It kept us going till lunchtime. Overall we would definitely stay here again.
“Great hotel in a great location.”
Great hotel in a great location - very central with very helpful staff and an excellent breakfast buffet to get you started!
“Brilliant boutique hotel perfectly placed”
Ive been to Iceland three times now, and up until the most recent trip I've stayed in hotels in downtown Reykjavik and thought they were conveniently placed... Until now! The Thingholt is fantastically central, just off the main shopping road, one junction away from the civic centre, only a five minute stroll to and the shoreline. Lots of restaurants around for added convenience. The hotel itself is very modern in design, clear from the moment you see the main doors. The rooms are very much in a minimalist design, all concrete and rubberised floors which gives them the clean modern look, and it isn't to everyone's tastes.... If you want a traditional hotel with soft furnishing and carpets, best try somewhere else! But I loved the look. The room was clean and comfortable, the bathroom with rainforest shower much appreciated after a days diving. The front desk staff wherein a class of their own, efficient & extremely helpful with tour/restaurant bookings. The only minor quibble was the breakfast, which while being tasty, lacked variety from day to day and the hot foods weren't kept that hot. Great hotel overall, will return there next summer.
“Great character hotel in the centre of Reykjavik”
Very central hotel with lovely modern decor. Good breakfast and lots of lovely local restaurants. The staff were very helpful and helped us book trips and restaurants.
“great location and very good value”
perfect location just 30 metres from the main street. clean, nice breakfast- recommend
