“CenterHotel Skjaldbreid - Brilliant”
The hotel was very pleasant. Our room was clean, as was every part of the hotel. The breakfast buffet was very nice and fresh each day. Any time I approached a member of staff with a query I received a friendly and helpful response. I would happily stay at the hotel again next time I visit Reykjavik, and would happily recommend it to friends and family.
“Great hotel.”
We got one of the corner rooms of Skjaldbreid, very spacious and always warm, despite the harshness of Iceland in January, The staff were always helpful and eager to clarify things about tours and excursions, especially when we ran into problems with out excursions, phoning up the companies without hesitation and were basically great hosts. They also allowed me to keep my medication (which had to be kept cool) in the main kitchen fridge, with no questions asked. Breakfast was great, simple but thats not a bad thing when you just want a quick meal before you go out. I've seen other people complain about the noise of the club next door, which we didn't encounter, perhaps because we were on the other side of the building. However, the street (Laugavegur) does get noisy on Friday and Saturday nights, though I'm a very light sleeper so it may not affect others as badly, and frankly, considering the hotel is on the main street of one of Europe's party capitals, it's to be expected. And if you get woken up by it, go outside and join in! We were only outside at 4am, waiting for our flybus and it was only 5 mins before we were invited to a house party; the people are that friendly. In short, I'd highly recommend this hotel.
“Clean Comfy and Very Central :)”
We had a lovely large room which was very lovely clean and comfy. The hotel was very central in Reykjavik which was fantastic but a little bit noisy at the weekend. But this is what you'd expect from a beautiful city with a lively night life. We plan to go back in the next year or two and wouldn't think twice about staying there again.
“Great location, great staff, great value.”
Perfect location for everything downtown. Staff was super friendly and helpful with any questions we had about the area and Iceland in general. The rates were awesome. Stayed four total nights in two different rooms. Both rooms were great.
“Everything a traveler needs.”
This is not a luxury hotel, but it has everything a traveler needs for a good night's sleep and a hearty breakfast. The location could not be better. We stayed at this hotel in the fall of 2011 probably on a good recommendation by TA and returned to it this time before we knew it was good AND because the price was right. Assuming we get back to Iceland we will likely stay there again.
“Absolutely Delightful Experience”
My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous stay here this past week. Hotel exceeded our expectations; particularly due to warm and thoroughly helpful staff. Trying to emulate the locals, we partied and got back to hotel in wee hours of the morning whereby Tony was always quick and happy to let us in (doors are locked after midnight). Breakfast was casual and hearty; the endless cups of free coffee appreciated. Our room on the fourth floor was quaint and comfy, more than warm enough even with window open, and the noise so frequently referred to was nothing more than an urban lullabye to our ears. I would definitely patronize this hotel again. I can't think of anything unpleasant about it during our visit. And yes, there is simply no better location for all activities, food, clubs and shopping!
“a real find!”
Location was fantastic! A bit noisy on Friday and Saturday, but loved hearing the voices of so many young people - we are 75+. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and the breakfast more than we had expected. Great/super value for the money! Would definitely return!
“Clean hotel, great location, helpful staff”
Great location in downtown Reykjavik. Not fancy, but clean and comfortable. Excellent breakfast and very helpful staff. Overall, great value.
“If i ever go back to reykavik this is the hotel i will be choosing.absolutely brilliant location”
The staff are so friendly and so helpful.the location is super as you are close to bars and shops.I have travelled quite a bit but would say i enjoyed this hotel the best
“Rien à redire: j'y retournerai!”
Je viens de passer 5 nuits à l'Hotel Skjaldbreid: une situation idéale dans la ville, directement sur la principale rue, une chambre certes pas très grande mais très confortable, propre. Le personnel très serviable. Excellent rapport qualité/prix. Rien à redire: si je retourne à Reykjavik, je retournerai dans cet hôtel.
