“Spend your money elsewhere”
My wife and I were terribly unimpressed with this hotel. The employees working at the desk during check-in were neither helpful nor friendly, and they were not at all apologetic when our key cards repeatedly failed to work in our door. Three trips up and down the stairs in a 3 minute span to have the cards re-magnetized, and a dumbfounded look from the employee when we asked if we could have different cards issued to us. The room itself was small and crowded (even for two people)...the garbage cans had not been emptied after the previous customers checked out (thankfully they had not left any unpleasant surprises). The hallways were noisy until well after midnight, and the noise from the lounge carried to our room. In the end, it was a place to sleep for a night, but not a place that I will ever sleep again.
“Cheap for Regina, you get what you pay for”
This hotel is no longer the Howard Johnson, it is the Chateau Regina. No documentation said this so we were a little confused but found it. The front desk's response was "How long did you look around?" No Sorry, no anything resembling concern. It was almost like she was laughing at me.. Still under renovation. Looks like they are trying to spend a little $$ to class it up, but nothing screams low class hotel like a sign out front that says crew rates by the month. Renovation apparently needs to have a couple sea cans hanging around. Room was clean but old. The facelift has not hit the hallways or the rooms yet. Room is probably the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed at. It was VERY quiet, if there were people next door we were completely unaware of it. Shower nozzle was exactly at my neck and i'm 6'1". I think you'd have to be 5'5" to fit under that thing. The staff are clearly disgruntled and have no interest in customer service. The good news is they are apparently aware of all these problems and are willing to cut the rates significantly over other hotels in Regina. Still too expensive, but what can you do. We were looking for a cheap place to sleep, which is exactly what it was. If your looking for a nice place to stay and enjoy yourself, stay somewhere else. If you have a family with you, definitely stay somewhere else. Next time I think I'll check the price on the Sunrise Motel next door.
“noisey”
Room was very small-heard lots of noise from the hallway. Smitty's adjoining hotel food mediocre to say the least
“Avoid during the football season!”
My husband and i stayed at the hotel during the september long weekend. We stayed for an event other than football and the entire stay it was packed with "loaded" football fans. Nothing against the sport but just the hotel for allowing people to walk around the halls and outside at all hours with open liquor. The hotel its self not too bad...however they could lay off the air conditioning a little. With all this said...unless you find a smashing deal...avoid at all costs.
“Skip it unless desperate”
Hotel was poor. Room was very small with no door on the closet. Room temperature control did not work and shower in the morning made the entire room hot and humid (due to smallness of room). Front desk was helpful but this place needed more than helpful people to make it fully habitable. I had to book at the Chateau Regina due to a farmer's exhibition in Regina and it was one of the few hotels with an available room (I know why now).
“low end mostly run down hotel”
low end mostly run down hotel - imagine using a name like Chateau. Overall, it was okay but it did have that low end ichy feel to it. On the positive side the bed was very comfortable and the there was a pretty big flat panel Panasonic TV.
“this sucks”
this palce is only good for hookers and pimps smells bad and the bar next door full of drunks will never stay here again better to pay a little more and stay at a better place
“Awful”
It sucked. The room was outdated. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
“No shower blues!”
We arrived late, and check in was quick. When we asked for an extra blanket, we did get it but were really made to feel like it was work! The room definately smelled of smoke although it did have a non-smoking sign in the room. It was a very small room and to have a "kitchenette" crammed into there as well just made thinkgs smaller. There was a desk and a chair etc. which made it hard to get to one side of the bed which was only a double. The coffee maker wwas they type that you put coffee bags (one cup). what a pain. In the morning 5:30 when we went to have a shower, the cold water tap didn't work so we couldn't have a shower. When I mentioned this to the front dest, I got "well thats what happens in a older hotel". I was very disappointed. for the price i paid i have stayed in much better hotels. This was not a deal!
“Worst Hotel Ever”
In my opinion this was false advertising and I will never stay at this hotel again. It is a PIT!
