“If you want to be in the London suburbs”

The price of the hotel is its best feature. Pros: Hotel looked freshly painted and well maintained, staffed by friendly and hospitable personnel, the room while small by American standards was adequate, and lastly the breakfast was simply: an English breakfast. Cons: Bad neighborhood with ill dressed locals wondering about, and too great of a distance by train for daily travel.

“Good value for a short stay.”

The hotel is absolutely fine. It is a small hotel and represents good value. I have stayed a few times and am happy to go back for short stays. The bathrooms in the smaller rooms are a bit cramped but if you need to stay near the station and town centre on a business trip, there really is nothing complain about.

“Not enough room to swing a cat!”

I was extremely surprised and appalled by the size of the room. There is no way that this should be sold as a double room. I have stayed at other hotels for much lower price with rooms twice the size! The walls were very thing so you could hear everything going on around you. The room was extremely cold and when you turned on the radiator, it became unbearably hot - no ventilation so with the size of the room you felt claustrophobic. The room appeared clean on the surface, but when you moved a chair or the bedisde table, it was very dusty. No heating in the bathroom so it was freezing cold, too cold to even consider having a shower. The breakfast was very basic but that didn't really bother me too much. However, I was surprised to see the sugar in a tin with everyone dipping into the same container and leaving bits of coffee, milk etc in the sugar. I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to have individual sachets. I could not wait to get out of there the next morning and there is no way I would stay there again, nor recommend it to anyone else!
