“Going back next year!”
Everything was more than we expected!
“Close to Vieux Quebec”
Charming & friendly. Great breakfast, croissants were wonderful. Fresh fruit. Across the street from the farmers market and the port. Close to everything, so we walked everywhere. Clean & attractive. No washer or dryer.
“Would gladly stay there again”
The hotel was very good, the staff was most accommodating, and offered excellent service. The hotel itself is smaller than appeared in the pictures we'd seen before. But that's no more an offense than politicians using younger pictures of themselves. The location was good (across from the city's public market), shops and restaurants were nearby, and the hotel gave us good directions for walking to the old part of Quebec. The only down side was the Belgian restaurant (more a bar than anything else)located in the hotel building. The service was awful and inattentive, and we had to leave to get a taxi back to the airport before getting dessert (which we'd already paid for), because the service was so slow.

Excellent boutique hotel. Very good value for the money. Spotless room, nice finishing touches, comfortable bed, all-round very tastefully done. Location very good, close to cafes, restaurants, bike path, and train station.
“I extremely enjoy the hotel”
it was the best hotel in our 9 day trip. It was a great experience, the hotel is very well located and the people are very nice and friendly. Our room was very clean and new, we felt as if we were at home. We loved the hotel and we recommeded highly.
“Value for location”
All the sights were within a 20 minute walk and at a reasonable cost.
“Chic Hotel Convenient to Old Quebec”
Hotel Des Coutellier was a really nice and interesting hotel. The rooms were very nicely decorated, although the room was quite small it offered everything we needed. The hotel looked very nice, was clean and the staff was very friendly. The location was convenient to all the Old Quebec sites. Easy walk to the funicular that takes you up the wall into the old city. Delightful sidewalk cafes and restaurants nearby.
“Small but comfortable room”
My only complaint would be that the room was small but it was completely comfortable. Even as small as it was it still comfortably held a queen size bed, a desk, sitting chair and couch. The room has a bar fridge and coffee maker. I have seen better stocked bar fridges but it didn't matter for us as we brought our own booze. We loved the look of our room, exposed brick on one wall a built in cabinet with a murphy bed, and fully stocked washroom. My wife loved the bath robe. Our view wasn't the best, especially being on the second floor. Our one window overlooked the sidewalk below with mostly tree leaves filling our view. Service was amazing. They were quick to help out with directions or any problems we experienced. I used the computer in the basement to check on email. One draw back about the location is that you are at the bottom of Old Quebec. If you are walking around for sightseeing, you will have a long up hill climb ahead of you. However, even if you are staying a Chateau Frautinac in the center of everything, you will still have to climb a lot to properly explore the city. We never ate at the attached restaurant, prefering instead to sample the many french restaurants in the old city. We had morning coffee at the bar next door as we could sit outside and watch the street action.
“I wish I could stay longer”
Nice hotel. It's is 3 star, but should be 4, no doubt. The only think that could be better is the reception stairs.
