“Perfect location for visit to 'Old Quebec'”
Ideal location for visit to 'Old' Quebec; at the top of the hill with shops & restaurants just down the hill.
“Very impressed”
Location of hotel is ideal, 15 min walk from the central bus/train station. Hotel is in the centre of all attractions in Quebec city. History of hotel is very interesting, the oldest in North America. Staff very friendly and helpful at all times.
“great location and clean”
Good stay...onlt complaint was that there was no curtesy exchange of dollars/canadian...hotel had 15% exchange charge...which was/is far beyond exchange rate
“Oldest Hotel in Quebec City”
This is the oldest hotel in Quebec City. Staff were very accommodating. The ambience was great.
“Clarendon - perfect location”
We typically travel to budget hotels so we took advantage of the promotion that Expedia held (20% off your stay). The hotel is fantastically located - 5 minutes by foot to Chateau Frontenac. It does not have its own parking, however valet parking is available for $25 per day (the benefit is that you can take you car anytime during the day and return it without paying extra fees) OR you can park at any city parking for $15 - however if you plan to take your car somewhere else - well you have to pay extra again. The concierge and reception was very polite and helpful. The decor of the hotel's lobby is in a little bit of art deco (definitely no art nouveau although that's how they advertise). It's finished with dark wood, quiet pleasant. Did not eat from the restaurant although there was a deal for 4 course meal and a glass of wine at $50 each + breakfast the next day. You can find cheaper food in restaurants nearby, however it is still quiet expensive! Crepes start at 6 to 9$ and can go anywhere up to 14$ (and more I think)... Everything you 'need to see' is entirely within a walking distance. Unless you are dependent on a wheelchair or scooter, or have any problems walking, you should not have any problems to see the Citadel, Chateau Frontenac, St. Jean gate (name?), Museum of Civilization, Parliament building, chocolate museum, murals under highway, fresh market, Old port with antique shops - all in one day! We did, and we took it in leisure. The city is absolutely beautiful!
“Great location.”
This hotel is centraly located, the staff is great and the restaurant is also.
“Decent hotel”
- good location - rooms are old, could use an update Stayed there three days. Very convenient to main attractions of Upper Town. We had three people in a superior room. I stayed on the pull-out couch which was in pretty bad condition. Room was otherwise in fair condition, but it is quite an old hotel. They actually have a scrapbook in the lobby that says they are the oldest hotel in North America. Staff is helpful enough. Price was reasonable for what we got.
“Exactly what we were looking for”
great location (if you are planning to stay in vieux quebec most of the time), the shopping is right beside the hotel (rue st jean i think) and you can walk down a side street down to petit champlain shopping district (and take the $2 funicular ride back up ... lots of good restaurants too ... the hotel itself is good, they have live jazz nights on the wkd in the hotel (fri & sat) .... we loved the room, but we like character more than granite counters, so it depends what you want, for us- it was awesome, totally recommend it!
“not the best”
I will not go back to this hotel. The plumbing in the bathroom is very, very noisy.
“Great location, walking distance to pretty much everything !”
Good service, nice old hotel in a great location, will return, thanks !!
