"Excellent choice"
This is a terrific boutique hotel. The rooms provide every comfort, from a great bed and linens, designer lighting, luxury shower features, robes, beautiful appointments and decor and Bose CD player, complementary water, electric tea pot, Keurig-type coffee maker, among other little upgrades. The hotel is built over a site which was excavated, and decoration throughout the hotel features artifacts from the excavation. The staff are very nice and helpful in all things, and after several really lousy meals in the touristy Old City we decided to have our last evening meal in the Artefact bar, featuring jazz on Thursday through Sunday nights. The food there was way better.

"Welcome bed."
My plane flight was late. I arrived at the hotel at about.1:30 am. The door was locked, but the sign on the door invited me to call. Thank goodness for cell phones and the light they provide to read the sign. Attendant let me in and swipped my credit card and carried my bag to my room on the 3d floor. It was smallish, especially the shower and access to the stool . . . very European. Also very clean. They could have eaited for the second generation of led lights, because the room was dark. It sounds like I did not like it, but it really was fine. The bed was comfortable and welcome after 14 hours of air travel. The breakfast was plated and very good. I stayed one night. It was quite satisfactory.

"Very comfortable "
Generally the staff is very nice but could be a bit more friendly The room is superb but looks like they hired a overly poor carpenter. The door to the bathroom sags and didn't close, the sink was not fitted properly. A competent carpenter would spruce the place up in half a day and really upgrade the hotel to a classy level

"Great Hotel in nicest part of Quebec"
Very well located, best part of town. Great breakfast, great staff. Comfortable bed. The only thing is that the room is a little small but i guess you shoul expect that in that part of town.

"The hotel alone is almost worth the trip"
This was of our first trip to Quebec, highly anticipated. We were not disappointed. We chose Le Germain in large part because of the reviews on Expedia and elsewhere. By no means do I always find online reviews helpful and/or accurate. But the reviewers were right on about this hotel. We did consider the Frontenac because of its reputation but decided against it because of the cost. Once in Quebec we did visit the Frontenac but found the crowds offputting. Because the Frontenac is so large and famous there is a constant stream of people through it. Le Germain, by contrast, is quiet, warm and intimate and one always has the sense of being the object of personal attention. That suited our needs perfectly.

"Lower Quebec at it's finest"
We really loved this Hotel. Rooms were very clean. Check in was fast and simple, really enjoyed the included full menu breakfast. Since we had an early check out and could not sit for breakfast that day, the staff was very accommodating by having a boxed breakfast prepared for us upon our departure from the hotel. We defiantly will book a stay here again.

"Excellent location to historic Old Quebec."
We had a marvelous time exploring the city of old Quebec. It's a beautiful & picturesque place with an old French charm. There are plenty of restaurants around the hotel and the food is good. The people are nice. The weather was perfect on our first day. However, it rained on our last day and cold. Overall, a delightful experience.

"Coolest Hotel I've Ever Stayed In..."
Definitely one of the best travel experiences I have ever had. The hotel itself is gorgeous and so unique. The staff is amazing and goes out of their way to make sure you have everything you want and need. They make staying in an ice fortress comfortable and fun. We enjoyed the snowshoeing trails behind the hotel, the hot tubs, the ice bar, ice carving activities, and just looking at all the beautiful and intricate decorations in the hotel. We ended up paying extra to upgrade to a decorated room with a fireplace and loved staying in our castle in the Nedland room. We felt like Lady and Lord Stark of Winterfell, which we loved even more. The whole experience was amazing and definitely something to cross off our bucket lists and to remember forever.

Visited Quebec because of its history and culture. The closest one can be to France without crossing the ocean. Although French is the first language English was never an issue.

"Nice service"
Walking distance to Old Quebec. Everything about the hotel was great expect the carpet in our room. The carpet needs to be changed. The washroom was very clean and new. There was a coffee maker which was really good. The AC was noisy during the night. The staff was nice. Comfortable beds.
