“A great vacation”

Doubletree Puntarenas was an awesome place to stay. The beach is not great but, the pools are terrific and you never have to get out early to "claim" chairs by the pool. There are lots of must do excursions nearby. The employees go out of their way for every guest.

“Nice resort but poor customer service”

Overall the resort was very nice, especially for a family with children. The pools were beautiful and warm the the resort was well kept and clean. The food choices were limited to a buffet and a snack bar if you didn't stay for a minimum of three nights. Reservations at the other two restaurants were very hard to get. Customer service was not so good. We had quite a few small things come up that the staff was not too eager to rectify. For example, my friend's room was on the first floor facing the parking lot. Small children and car alarms don't mix during the middle of the night. After much complaining they offerend to switch her room. The safe and the TV in her room also had to be fixed/replaced. My room on the other hand was beautiful and had a great patio to look out on. It was after the first night though that I discovered the bed sheets my children had slept on were DIRTY! Although the sheets were changed promptly we also brought all of this to the attention of a manager and it took an hour of waiting for her to tell us the the supervisor who could do anything for us was not available. Not acceptable. Eventually we spoke to him and he promised us something for a future visit. What that something is I don't know. I guess we'll find out if we ever go back. With so many other beautiful places in Costa Rica, I don't know if we'll take him up on that.

“Puntarenas Double Tree”

The room and the staff are very nice. The view from the beach is great. The beach itself has dark sand and is not the cleanest beach I have seen, but that is why you have the pools. You can enjoy at gorgeous sunsets. The staff has thought for that and have set up a sunset bar on the bridge in their complex , where you can enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine . There are hammocks pulled between few palms so you can also chill with your choice of technology(ipad,iphone) or book and enjoy the lazy day. One drawback is that there is not a water bottles in proximity to the rooms , so you have to walk 5 mins to get some cold water in the hot day.Enjoyable stay overall.

“Pleasent Stay”

The staff was friendly and courteous an hour and half from San Jose and ten minutes from Puntarenas, lots of activities for everyone. Like that they have other restaurants choices beside the buffet

Staff was super nice. There room could have been keep better. Thats is why the 4 star rating. But we had a great time.

The room had small ants in the bathroom and on the bedding.

plumbing driped all night, floor tiles and grout cracked and falling apart, we had a commercial size cement mixer 5 ft outside our back door,window. paint peeling off walls,bathroom in dire need of remodeling, etc.

“I can not recommend this hotel”

I was in this hotel with my husband during 2 weeks. This hotel has the dirty beach with a black volcano sand and the bottom of Pacific ocean is also not in good condition.We were also not satisfied food because it calculates on local tourists which are majority there.The hotel`s area that includes some pools,restaurants,bars and theater needs to be renovated also.We met some couples in this hotel from different places of America,and they had the same opinion.Sum up, I cannot recommend to stay in this hotel.

“Below average”

Very 70s hotel. Kind of boring. Food and service very average. Clean rooms.

“Costa Rica”

Getting to and from the hotel was about 110 dollars for two people each way. Pricey for me. On the weekends the hotel was full with mostly younger families with a lot of children just staying for the weekend. Staff seemed overwhelmed with this, but during week staff was very friendly and attentive. The pool by building 3 was almost all adults and that was nice.
