“Great Bargain for Families with Kids”
We had a fantastic time at this hotel! The pool area, while not the caliber or size you might expect from upscale or large resorts, is very nice. The rooms are very large, albeit a little tired, but such is the case with some Mexican hotels -- and it was never dirty. All employees were polite, and a little attempt at some Spanish goes a long way. We never had more than a couple of families to content with at the pool or under the beach palapas - which was a nice change. Restaurant on site makes decent food, and you do not have to walk 15 minutes on the beach with three kids to get there. The Octopus with garlic was a standout, and our kids loved the sincronizadas (ham and cheese quesadillas). Bar (always 2 for 1 drinks) opens a little late, and closes a little early, but that is Bucerias. Overall it was a quieter, more authentically Mexican (and more reasonable) experience than in Puerto Vallarta. We will definately be back! The bus was a necessity, even with kids who like to walk, but it was an adventure they loved.
“A nice hotel that made me feel like I was outside of the U.S.”
This hotel is situated outside of either Puerto Vallarta or the 'Hotel District'. We had a rental car so travel to the city was about 15 minutes. The village of Bucarias is quaint but has a small market and adaquate stores to buy what you need. It is not as touristy as the city and is much more relaxed. The hotel rooms are large and have a rustic feel, but are well maintained. The kitchen was well equipped and a blessing to have as we prefer not to eat in restaurants every meal. Most of the other guests were Mexican and we met many nice and interesting people. The pool and the beach are restful and tidy. There is paid internet access in a small business center near the front desk. The road into the hotel needs repair. Some nights we could hear traffic from the nearby highway, though you had to be a light sleeper for it to be a bother.
“Big, Comfortable, Good Location”
Our suite was quite large with two bedrooms, three bathrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen, laundry room, and good-sized balcony with a view of the pool and Bahia de Banderas. Beds included a king size, two singles, two comfortable built-in couches, and another couch in the laundry room. House-keeping and front-desk service very good. Restaurant also good. Nice location away from the bustle and traffic of Puerto Vallarta. All-in-all, a very favorable experience.
“Beautiful View, Quiet Atmosphere”
The suites are huge! We had a 2 bedroom suite, that could have fit at least 6 people! View was beautiful, quiet hotel. Only the sound of the ocean waves could be heard. Restaurant very small but delicious entree's, 2 for 1 happy hour! Nice pool, great beach area.
“Very nice, clean hotel.”
My husband and I stayed here for a week in March and had a wonderful time. The room was very spacious and comfortable with 2 bedrooms, 3 baths, kitchen & living area. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. It was nice to have the restaurant and bar on the grounds and prices were very reasonable. It was just a short walk up the beach into Bucerias so we had no need to rent a car. Beach & pool were both very nice. Will definitely stay here on our next trip to Bucerias!
“Quiet Beach resort”
I would highly recommend this family friendly hotel if you are intersted in beach and pool and an authentic Mexican experience. This is not the place to stay if you are looking for partying/shopping in Puerto Vallarta, it's too far away. The rooms, beach and pool are awsome. The restaraunt serves simple but tasty food. The shrimp kebob was my favorite, had it three times. It's about a $20 ride to PV or the airport. Don't let the airport time share net tell you otherwise. Unless you want to spend 3 hours in the hard sell, take care of your own taxi and activities. Don't beleive it when they say it's a 90 minute presentation. You're captive for about 4 hours.
“Excellent value in older small resort”
If you want a small quiet place with good value but not all the extras, this is perfect. With only 30 suites, you will have quiet and no crowds anywhere, at pool, beach near by. Have stayed there twice this year now and will go back.
“Great little gem!!”
This is a very inexpensive hotel. You get a lot for what you pay for, but you have to keep in mind it is a small, economical place. Which is why we loved it so much!! Staff: accommodating and friendly. The maid service was efficient and fabulous!! Room: HUGE. 2 bedrooms, living area, kitchen, dining room, large balcony and 3 bathrooms. We had everything we needed and more. Our view was great, overlooked the ocean and pool bar. Grounds: Tropical. Clean. Very nice pool, swim up bar, and kiddie pool. The clientelle was mostly older couples, older singles and mexican families. It was very quiet when we were there, not many people on the property or on the beach in front of the hotel. The beach was a little rocky, but not a problem once you walked past the rocky part. Location: 15 minute walk by beach to Bucerias and restaurants, shopping, etc. The closest tienda is about 4 blocks away. It was a great location! We walked a lot and loved every minute of it. Restaurants: Breakfast was served from 9 am to 11 am. We ate there twice, it was good. The pool bar and restaurant opens at noon. We ate there once, it was just ok. There are plenty of other places to eat walking distance away. The rooms had full kitchens, so if you needed breakfast earlier than 9 am or drinks before noon, you just kept a stock in your room. Overall: I loved it. It was quiet, clean, friendly and spacious. I would recommend this place to families, couples and groups.
“Great Place to Stay!”
We had a wonderful week at the Vista Vallarta. The hotel is an older Mexican-style hotel with lots of charm (and really, really hard beds, like cardboard! This was the only real drawback. We actually put the bench sofa cushions from the living room, and a blanket, onto the double bed each night, which worked well to make it comfortable!) The hotel was immaculately clean, our balcony charming and very private, the suite large and well-equipped, the staff friendly and accommodating (and the staff at the desk understood English.) It has a lovely clean pool, big palapa area, and a great beach for swimming and walking. We felt very safe there. We wouldn't particularly recommend the restaurant. (There are better ones within walking distance.)
“Can't wait to go back”
This was our 2nd stay at Vista Vallarta and we loved it. The staff is wonderful and the hotel perfect. We will go back next year.
