“Beautiful gardens”
Hotel is located between the airport and downtown. Taxi service is friendly and reasonably priced. Local bus service to the downtown/Malecon area of town is cheap and runs frequently. Hotel is set back from the main road and therefore relatively quiet. Gardens are a highlight, with many beautiful flowers and ornamental shrubbery lining the pathways. Godd hotel at a reasonable price.
“Great relaxing and quiet place to stay away from the chaos of the city.”
The hotel itself was very nice. The only inconvience we ran into was when the hotel had some satelite television and phone problems the last few days we were there. Although inconvient, the problems were resolved as quickly as possible.
“Best Bang For Your Buck”
We spent 12 days here in Mar. & had stayed there 12 years ago. Although their was some "wear and tear" on the outside of the building, there were also great improvements i.e. the little restaurant, the convenience store". Grounds and rooms are immaculate. We occupied a junior suite and were amazaed at the amt. of room we had in this suite. We had a full breakfast included in the amazingly low cost of the suite. We were right across from the beach, although we both love to lay around the pool, rather than deal with the bartering on the beach anyway. It is gated, so security was never an issue. The staff in the hotel lobby, especially Ruthie and Ulysses went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed to make our stay in PV a memorable one. The staff in the cafe were so friendly and efficient. Suite was very spacious with large dining room/kitchenette, 2 full baths, always fresh flowers in our room. We know from past experience, that Puerto Vallarta is NOT a place to do all inclusive, as it has restaurants and history downtown that is second to none. The bus service is right in front of the hotel (10 min. to the Malecon) and for $.65 Cdn. we loved to ride the local bus (bus leaves every min. it seemeed) to dine downtown at a different restaurant each night. If you want a luxurious suite, downfilled duvets and all the other frills, this is not for you. If you want an absolute authentic Mexican experience, great staff and location visit Puerto de Luna.
“PV's Best Kept Secret”
If you want a truly Mexican hotel (not a chain)and a restful, unique experience, Puerto de Luna is perfect. The grounds are lush with hibiscus, bouganvilla, and unusual tropical birds. The location in the Hotel Zone is excellent. Across the street is the main thoroughfare into PVR and for the equivalent of 45 cents you can bus it into downtown PVR on a fun, bumpy "blue and white bus" filled with helpful locals. (You have to use the bus system for the full flavor of this town!) A grocery store, Gigante, is 2 blocks away as well as Tia Maria's -- an authentic Mexican restaurant with wonderful seafood at modest prices. Rent a "suite" so that you can have some meals in the room if you choose. There is an outdoor cafe with a limited menu, but the food is good and the prices much more reasonable than at expensive chain hotels. An Internet Cafe is across the street. We've returned to this hotel 4 times. Caution: there are no elevators, so you may want a ground floor room. If you want a laid back getaway -- no frills -- you will enjoy this hotel. The staff is friendly and hospitable. It is a truly Mexican experience.
“We loved this place.”
We really enjoyed the beautiful grounds and the pleasant rooms. We had a junior suite for two adults and two teen girls. The bedroom mattress was very firm, but not uncomfortable. The teens were very comfortable on two wide cushioned sofas and we had two nice bathrooms and a kitchenette --very convenient. Everything was scrupulously clean and well-maintained. Even the sidewalks, hallways, and outdoor furniture were spotless. The pool was very large and the water clean: the pool temperature varied from cold to quite warm and comfortable. The location is ideal, on the clean and attractive hotel strip, with many nice restaurants close by. The Gigante grocery is a short walk. It was not difficult to access the beach across the street. We investigated pricier hotels in the area but we would stay at Puerto de Luna again.
“Beyond the call of duty”
I spent 2 days at the hotel in Febr.07.Being a student in Puerto Vallarta I run into some trouble prior to my family stay as the addr. on phone number was incorrect. The front desk staff put them selfs out of the way to help me in this very sticky situation, making fone calls and translating to the cabdriver was a trmendous amount of help to finaly locate the proper addr. of my future home stay.I was travelling by myself and I appreciated the concern and help of the hotel staff.I liked everything about the hotel, the breakfast buffet was great and the pool area very relaxing.
“Great place great price”
This hotel was great. The pool especially. I would stay again with out a doubt highly recommended! Do recommend the suites though, they are fully equiped.
“A quiet and beautiful respite from the tourist rush”
Excellent service and hotel grounds that offer a quiet seclusion from the normal tourist atmosphere. A bit dated, but well maintained.
“I would definetly go back to this hotel.”
This hotel might not be the fancist hotel in Puerto Vallarta, but I love its location. It is very quite and peaceful. You don't have to worry about anyone bothering you. Plus two of you can take a bus to center for a buck.
“Very relaxing, soothing atmosphere.”
Well not for everyone, the Hotel offers a very quiet setting for those looking for a relaxing stay. The beautiful grounds of the Hotel are well kept and make relaxing at the centrally located pool a most pleasant experience. The small restuarant at the Hotel is only open for breakfast and lunch, and well not fancy it offers good food and service at reasonable prices. The entire staff at the Hotel seem intent on making your stay relaxing and enjoyable, which is a nice change of pace from the countless vendors and hawkers of timeshares elsewhere in Vallarta.
