“Hotel Mocali - Friendly, Clean, Convenient”
I had a great 5-day stay at the Mocali. This hotel is more traditional "Mexican" style hotel. For tourists equal to "budget" class, but I honestly could find nothing to truly complain about. The staff is all smiles, very friendly and helpful. Knowing a little Spanish is good, but English works too... just not fluently. The room and entire hotel was recently remodeled and is very clean and secure with 24-hour staff. Brand new nearly silent A/C units and fans. Excellent water pressure, plenty of hot water for showers. Toilets are power flush, never a problem. Cable TV. Telephone. Comfy beds. Small balcony with chairs. Secure, off-street gated parking. Room doors are sturdy with both handle and deadbolt locks. Free Wi-Fi (signal at times was a little weak in my room, but most often worked perfect), guest computer in lobby. Free fruit, toast, coffee breakfast Tues. - Sun. served in cozy dining room. Roof-top deck with ocean view. Mocali is on north side of downtown (Nicaragua & Brasil), so very easy walk to the Malecon and the beach is just 4 blocks away. Major grocery store, corner stores, restaurants, bars, banks, laundry, bus, taxi are all within 1-3 blocks. It is directly on Nicaragua and a block from busy street, however, I was pleasantly surprised how quiet Mocali is. Essentially silent at night and only very mild traffic/city noise in the morning/day.... nothing that ever disturbed my sleep. Rooms/baths a bit small for 2 or more. I'd stay again for sure! Thanks!
“i'll be back.”
A small, family operated hotel in a mixed area of businesses, residences, local people and tourists. Secure, clean and friendly. Stayed 14 nights starting 30 November 2010. No worries. Bused to/from airport for 6.5 pesos each way. Restaurants and grocery stores and laundry and hair salons nearby. Beach is three short blocks away. Could see ocean from my balcony looking west down Nicaragua Street. Look east and see high hills covered with tropical foliage. The Hotel Mocali is a happy place.
“Hated to leave”
the room was very clean and a modern bathroom with a power flush toilet the bed was comfortable even though there was no box springs but an elevated concrete bed with a mattres on it. The staff was very nice and helpful in spanish and most of the guests were spanish speaking ok i didnt hear any english Money stayed untouched on the dresser. The room was cleaned daily with soap shampoo and clean towels breakfast was Coffee fruit and toast with Jelly. Air conditioner was very quiet although I did not need it much window opens and patio door to the balcony made for a nice climate also a quiet ceiling fan was avalible No Bugs!
“Was a great experience being in the historical area where the locals live.”
We upgraded to the penthouse so that my in-laws could stay with us while we were visiting and it was very nice. We really liked the patio where we could sit and relax in the evening.
“will stay there again”
The hotel was spectactular, every morning I was served coffee and a fresh continental breakfast by a very friendly staff, and they were very friendly. We were 2 blocks from the beach and 5 minutes from all the sites. The hotel was quiet and friendly and incredibly clean, I was impressed.
“Perfect Inexpensive Hotel Stay!!!”
The hotel is perfect if you plan on being out and about and not in the hotel. It is walking distance from the strip and there are a ton of inexpensive restaurants and hole in the wall dining places to stop by while walking towards the Malecon. They keep the rooms very clean and the staff is very friendly. The beds are a bit hard, but its no big deal since you will only be sleeping for a few hours. There is so much to see in Puerto Vallarta, you wont want to spend your time in a hotel anyway. I highly recommend this hotel and i will definitely come back and stay at Mocali.
“Looking for inexpensive..it doesnt get much better”
If you are used to the ritz dont stay here, but if you are looking for economy class hotel this one is amazing!! I liked it so much I went back and stayed another couple nights. The value of this hotel is amazing and the staff were very nice
“great place, for a great price”
The hotel Mocali was better than i expected. My room was clean, bright and cheerful. It is well located, in a great neighbourhood. If you want the beach it is just two blocks away. . Breakfast is provided and consists of fresh fruit, toast and coffee, a great way to start your day. For your other meals there are plenty of restaurants and street food options nearby. the staff are friendly, and willing to help. If you like to travel and save some money try the Mocali, I was happy i did
“Local flavour with a smile”
If you are looking for quaint, simple and friendly, this is the place! it was exactly what I wanted on this trip. all of the staff were smiles everyday and with next to no English, we communicated amazingly well. many of the guests were local workers in for a short stint so it was great to be able to spend time with some of them and learn about PV away from tourists. The wifi was unpredictable and the doors were not sound proof but for the amount of time anyone really spends in their hotel room, it has everything you need. Clean, friendly and very quiet at night. No loud parties and it always felt safe. and for that price, it was more than I expected! I would definitely stay there again!
“good”
I't was quite plesent. it was somewhat clean the tv was so small old style monitore the hotel should improve on buying better lcd tvs it was also somewhat noiseie
