Firstly, I would like to acknowledge Noemi at the front desk for being kind and accommodating. The bell boys were eager to help. There is a younger man at the front desk that was curt and rude. The maids were sweet and kind. The resort itself is dated and could use a refresh. Our shower drain was completely broken off and we had to be careful that we didn’t step into the hole. The beach chairs are OLD and UNCOMFORTABLE. Where are the loungers. When I’m at the beach, like to lay down not sit in a SAGGY chair. If there’s one reason why I wouldn’t come back and to this resort is because of those beach chairs. All in all I give this Hotel a 3/10

We stayed for 10 days. Ask for Fernando, he is excellent he remembers what you are drinking and checks on you (pool/beach). Housekeeping came by approximately same time everyday and cleaned the room, left a work of art with the towels....Just know you can use Uber down there it is cheaper than the taxis. We love it!!!!!

Staff is very friendly. There are small shops, grocery shops, farmacies and dinning areas walking distance. Ocean view from the balconies is wonderful.

It is a beautiful property, very clean every day. Employees are nice to work with and helpful with answers. Love the pool and bar area. I wish they used fabric softener on the shower towels, and i wish there were more than one outlet in the Jr. Suite. Some outlets by the bed would be nice for phone and alarms in the morning. Beautiful views from this property too.

The Tropicana had a wonderful beach area and wonderful service. The rooms and hotel grounds were very clean. The only downside would be that the elevators ding really loudly and woke me up in the mornings. It would also be nice if you could get food service (especially morning coffee) to your room.

We requested a room change to double beds (from one king) and the front desk was very accommodating despite the property being sold out. In particular Victor was extremely helpful and professional in meeting our needs. This property is a gem. Location is unbeatable on the beach. 2 large pools. Rooms are not in the most up to date condition, but maintained well and very reasonably priced compared to the neighboring hotels.

The internet did not work most of our stay there. High speed internet was advertised but not available. The exterior building was run down and not in good repair. I wouldn't book this if you need internet for work or other reason. The one good thing about this hotel is that it is close to the downtown area and near good restaurants.

Very well located right on the beach, friendly staff, great pool and restaurant area. Please be aware there is NO parking in the hotel. They claim to have parking but there is never room, they want a tip to give you access to a spot "just happen to open" if you give them a tip, and getting in and out of the 'lot' is impossible due to the tight set up. Because the hotel is located in a very small street, street parking is generally not available either. Best parking is a few blocks away.

Two stars: one for a place to sleep, one for air conditioning (a noisy portable wall unit). Otherwise, nothing to recommend about this place. Dirty walls, water spots on ceiling, crumbling grout, mold around the shower, ancient appliances, super thin walls. Location is excellent, however - right on the beach. Which is good, because you won’t want to spend any unnecessary moment in your room.

Cheap and cheerful. Not a fancy hotel, but clean, lovely staff, great beach, great location, lots of restaurants nearby. Good restaurant, nice breakfast included in rate. Excellent views. Have stayed here often and love it.

Everything was good until they told me my guest needed an ID which is fine and understanding and safe, but when they told me I had to pay for a bracelet so I could have a visitor, I mean we already pay a lot as it is, why pay extra for a quick visit?

To be a last min trip was perfect it was a nice hotel really clean it has a lot nice views and easy access's to the beach everything was walkable there a lot restaurants around the area to choose from, 3min walk to the malecón I would really come back to it.

We love staying at Hotel Tropicana! We have been coming here for years and will be back. The location is great, everything is in walking distance. There are tons of amazing dining options in the area. The hotel is clean, the staff are wonderful. Can’t wait to come back!

All in all, this property exceeded all expectations. Some other reviews knocked this hotel. You get what you pay for. I was paying for a great location and got it. Everything else was a bonus. Clean rooms and excellent staff. I would recommend this hotel, but realize this is an older hotel with some history and a few bruises.

Second visit this month. Again I had reserved a "Superior" room with a sea view. I put in a request for a non-ground floor room (room security is suspect.) Again I was given a ground floor room overlooking their trash and loading area. They blamed Expedia for advertising the sea view. Said they had been told to put sea view if available.

Room type “not available” …. Room given was adequate, had to repair air conditioner (leaking water) 4 times and finally correctly fixed after request of room change . Rooms need updating but pool and gathering areas beautiful as always! Food/drink servers “on strike” so no food drink available day after arrival ….. plenty of offerings within walking distance but happy it was resolved. Do not exchange $ here … 2 pts less than banks

In its hay day this place was great I think. It is still a great location. The beds were very comfortable and there have been updates to rooms to modernize it. There needs to be more attention to detail in cleaning (walls, toilet paper holder, windows sills and windows in halls). Grout around sink was old or missing and lighting in bathroom was horrible-dark. There is limited to no decor in hallways and in rooms. Internet was intermittent in rooms. Staff was great. There was no drinking water dispenser in lobby so no drinking water available around property except one bottle first day of arrival. Overall good for location of course.

The Hotel was clean and orderly, the staff were helpful, pleasant to deal with and appeared to be enjoying what they werre doing. The Hotel is in an area that is within walking distance from restaurants, shops and the downtown area of Puerto Vallarta. The location is quiet and peaceful.

Clean rooms. The hotel is on the beach. The restaurant and the beach service is not the best, but the hotel is in the perfect location, walkable to other beaches and restaurants.

Loved how close this property was to lots of restaurants, while still being a beachfront hotel. The amount of beach vendors asking if you want to buy their goods was overwhelming! We were telling them “No Gracias” every 10 minutes. Not very relaxing when you are trying to read a book or have a conversation and they keep interrupting you. The beach drink/food service was very nice. Those workers were attentive & very friendly! The rooms were basic but comfortable. A fridge would have been nice though.

I liked the property, it;s beautiful and clean but the toilet in my room was not working properly and I learned tthe next door guest had the same problem. The restaurnt/bar staff is too slow and lazy and bias. Sorry to say it but they have a big preference for the snow birds and IT SHOWS-
