“Beautiful boutique hotel”
A beautiful old mansion converted into an elegant small B&B hotel. In the old San Juan area and within walking distance to most everything. Very gracious hostess provided an excellent fresh breakfast and help with travel arrangements. We would highly recomment this hotel and only wished we could have stayed longer.
“Jewel of Old San Juan”
My husband and I could not have been happier with Villa Herencia. The lady that checked us in was very friendly and helpful each day we were there. The breakfast of pastries, cereal, toast, coffee and juice was offered in a lovely dining room. The room was beautiful. Not a lot of space in the area with the bed and a very small bathroom, but there was a sitting area with a comfy sofa to make up for it. Our room was on the main level right beside the fountain in the courtyard. Our first night I thought it was loud and wished it was off. Big mistake. Once turned off for the night, you could hear anyone walking in the courtyard to their room or up the steps. I had a group of springbreakers return very loudly to their room at 1 AM and had to ask them to be quiet. The next night the fountain stayed on and there were no noise issues at all. The space in the room and the outside noise within the hotel are the only downgrade but everything else MORE than made up for it. The location is perfect! Everything is within walking distance and it is right near the old gate and the water. It is a five minute walk to the main square and and easy walk up-hill to San Morro. Even its immediate surroundings are very peaceful, located just off the pleasant square in front of the Cathedral and children's museum. Several nearby eateries. We had no problems walking around late as the Governor's Mansion is around the corner so lots of security there, and in Old San Juan period. Stay. You will love it.
“Old world charm!”
What a quaint little hotel...As if you were living in your own little villa. You get your own key to the premises...You must bring all your toiletries and hair blower. You get housekeeping during the day, they refresh your towels...the attendants are extremely nice and they even helped me retrieve my luggage from my car which was parked up the hill...locating parking is a challenge at all times! The room is equipped with a queen size bed and air conditioning...not too big a room but all you are going to do is sleep and in the morning you are off again to explore the island...The location of the hotel...WOW!!! Excellent location. Right in the heart of Old San Juan. Make sure you bring comfortable shoes...so much to explore in that vicinity...I was there alone on business so I did not get to enjoy much this time...but being a frequent visitor to the island, next time I go on pleasure, I will hit them up again!
“We will be back!!!!”
I would not consider staying at any other hotel in San Juan. The hotel has charm and character, the location in perfect and the staff could not be any better.
“Already made reservations for next year”
Beautiful hotel. Resembles of a bed a breakfast but with more privacy. Makes you feel as if you are actually living in Old San Juan. The beds are incredibly comfortable and the shower was huge for the standards of Old San Juan hotels.
“A charming boutique hotel in a quaint old-world neighborhood!”
My wife and I had never been to Europe before, so Old San Juan is the closest we've ever gotten to the feel of an old-world, cobblestone-lined town. La Herencia made our still all the better. It's high, open-beam ceilings, plastered walls, and vintage amenities are combined with modern fixtures and comforts that make for a very enjoyable stay. Comfortable beds, friendly service, and a great location for walking around all of Old San Juan. The only detractor was that our shower water was not consistently cold. The room had a individual water heater, but we had to play around with water pressure to get enough heat, and even then it wasn't consistent. Still--you're in Puerto Rico, so the water doesn't need to be scalding hot!
“Tired of hotel chains?”
My hotel room was unlike one of a typical hotel chain. It was a great place to stay, great atmosphere, great location. During my visit to San Juan, I am glad I decided to stay in the Old San Juan area and would very much recommend the Casa La Herencia. Go for it!
“We'll stay here again and again...”
This was the perfect place to stay in Old San Juan. Charming, comfortable and cozy. It was not much to look at from the street. However, as soon as we stepped inside we were in love. You step into a lush, tropical, open corridor with a fountain at the far end. There are only 8 rooms, so the person working the front desk knows you by name. The hotel is in the middle of historic Old San Juan as walking distance to everything. We were thoroughly pleased with this hotel.
“Unusual and charming”
Very charming hotel in excellent location. Great for short stay to explore old town.
“What an amazing hotel”
This hotel is absolutely beautiful, decorated in a traditional style, yet with 21st century comforts like WiFi. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, and the rooms are cleaner than your own house. The hotel is located within 15 minutes walking distance of everything in Old San Juan. There are numerous restaurants and bars nearby, in short there is no better hotel to immerse yourself in all of the culture Old San Juan has to offer. The pictures do not do this hotel justice, the open air courtyard with the fountain complete the picture that you have been transported back in time. I will certainly visit here again soon.
