“Reasonable stay, don't expect too much - other than service”

Staff were excellent, very helpful but the Hotel is older and although clean starting to show signs of it's age. We walked by the beach that they claim is across the road but it is on a lagoon and not what you would expect in the Carribean. A short walk away from there though - 10 to 15 minutes you are in the Atlantic Ocean and some major resorts. I would stay again but certainly not more than for a quick stay of one night.

“Would stay there again!”

Stayed January 2012 - We only stayed one night as we were cruising the next day. When we arrived, from the outside, I was somewhat skeptical, but once you walk into the lobby you almost feel as if your in some European pension. This hotel isn't a large luxury chain, which added to the charm of it. The decor, was quaint and very cozy. We utilized the rooftop patio for a little get together with our travelling mates and had a great view of the city - recommend you at least go up for the views. We attended dinner at a restaurant that is affiliated with the Hotel, I believe it was called Cafe Miramar?? - and is a short walk - the food was a mix of Puerto Rican and North American and was AMAZING, the service was OUTSTANDING, the wait staff were fun and engaging. The atmosphere was again almost European night cafe - had an awesome time! Cabs were $30 for all six of us, from the airport and then to the pier - alot cheaper than our cabs for sure.

“In transit to Cruise Ship”

Basic hotel. AC worked very well. Rooms and linen need some updating. Location not good however close to puclic transit. Cannot walk to pier unlike previous reviews we read. Internet was free and 2 computers were accessible with printers.

“Disappointed”

We stayed at this hotel pre and post cruise. The first night was very disappointing. One of the double beds had horrible squeaks every time anyone moved on it. The safe in the room did not work and there was no hot water after one shower was taken. I spoke to the person at the desk and he came to check out the complaints and he wrote them down. He was told that we would be back for another night after our cruise and that we expected better. The second room was a definite improvement, the only complaint was that the shower head was blocked and didn't work well. This hotel is very basic and not very well maintained. We found it to be well below it's rating, and would not recommend it to others.

“Hotel Miramar in San Juan”

The Hotel Miramar was older than we expected. The staff was friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was not very good in terms of poor selection, fruit was not very fresh, had to order corn flakes from the kitchen and toast. The rooms were clean but the sheets had holes in them. The location was okay for the bussing but the neighbourhood was dark and we did not feel safe walking around there. We would not stay there in the future. If I were to rate this hotel, it would be a 2. Needs remodelling and updating. Location is tricky to get around especially with a rental car and very limited parking! We were quite disappointed with this hotel as we stayed at the Miramar in Honolulu and it was much better.

“Lessons to be learnt with lasting minute bookings.”

This hotel was very old and not to American standards and was located in the rough part of town that they were trying to revitalize. The hotel clerk spoke very little English and was unsure of check-in procedures. All areas of the hotel smelt of mold and was being masked by scents. Beds were very old with thin sheets and flat pillows. Weak water pressure was experienced in the shower area.
