“Hotel with character”
Classic hacienda style hotel with old world service and charm. Great location in the Old City, everything there is within easy walking distance. This is the place to stay if you are NOT planning a beach/pool vacation. There is access to a partner hotel when you need to go to the beach.
“San Juan's Gem”
Stayed at El Convento during April and loved the hotel, location and friendly staff. On Good Friday we watched the Easter pageant from the balcony. The complimentary drinks and cheeses on the balcony were a lovely feature. Lots to see and experience in old San Juan and staying at El Convento was a delight as it was walking distance from all the historical sights as wekll as the wonderful shopping.Fabulous
“Romantic dream of a hotel”
We stayed at the El Convento for a few days after a cruise. The location in old San Juan was wonderful and very romantic. Easy access to the city and all it had to offer (historical sites, restaurants, bars) was fabulous. The hotels rooms were wonderful and as luxurious as you can get in a 400 year old plus building. Complimentary wine/ cheese evenings were divine. The trendy end of San Juan was easy to visit for nightlife, but it lacks the charm of the old section which we loved returning to every night. Great restaurants nearby! This hotel is a GEM! We will return!!
“beautiful hotel”
This is a wonderful hotel in a great location. The staff was very helpful. There is a great courtyard restaurant. Terrific atmosphere. Free happy hour for customers.
“Great Honeymoon Stay!”
The Hotel El Convento is beautiful, and you can't beat it's location in old San Juan. The staff was very friendly, and went out of their way to help us. I would recommend El Convento to anyone traveling to old San Juan!
“Total Enjoyment”
I felt so pampered and catered to during my stay. I almost booked with another "chain" hotel, but I am so pleased that I chose to stay @ El Convento. It was both charming and luxurious. I wanted to feel like I was in Puerto Rico and that is exactly what it felt like. The decor and atmosphere were a great reflection of the country ( on the upscale side!). I will definately return and send anyone to this sweet place!
“Absolutely incredible”
Magnificent experience - we wre upgraded to one of 4 suites. the location is incredible. they have nice views from their rooftop. the pool is a bit small - but welcome after temperatures of 91 degrees! Great service. Complimentary wine and cheese at 6:00PM was very nice - met a lot of cool people. Definetly the place to stay in San Juan (if mot all of PR)
“Best place to stay in Old San Juan!”
My husband and I splurged and stayed here for 2 nights on our honeymoon. It's a fantastic hotel with a stunning courtyard with a 300 year old tree. Room was large, view over the city, a beautiful iron wrought bed, TV w/VCR, stereo system, mini-fridge. Staff were very helpful, esp in recommending restaurants(they have all the menus in a binder). The location is right in the heart of old san juan near El Morro and Calle de San Francisco. Lots of nice touches, like having 2 complimentary bottles of water in the frig daily; twice a day housekeeping with turn-down service; complimentary continental breakfast made fancy by having a piano player in the courtyard. Breakfast is very nice; baskets of toast & pastries and plates of fruit served to your table. Free wine & cheese hour daily from 6-8pm, the best time to sit overlooking the courtyard. Pool is tiny, but terrace overlooks the city and the jacuzzi is nice. Only negative was our room (501) was next to where they host all their weddings (most weekends there are weddings both nights) it was noisy. Pool is outside of 4th floor, so if you are on that side, you'll find people in the pool staring into your room. Next time, we'll ask for a room on the 5th floor, on the opposite end from the pool/chapel. Overall, gorgeous building, ideal location, we'd definitely go back!
“"Best Little Convent in Town"”
We travel frequently and have high expectations. The energy from the staff and the beauty of the property combined for a very memorable stay. I always use the front desk as a resource and they were flawless in thier assistance (with smiles and true passion for what they do). The onsite restaurants were fantastic and once again the staff's excellent service and positive attitude made us feel more than a customer but more of a guest in their home. I want to thank everyone there for such a great time. The building date backs to the 1600's so don't expect ultra-clean, ultra-chic and modern. Enjoy the beautiful building with its flow of air and its location.
“Peace of Mind Service!”
The hotel was beautiful. The location was key as we could walk around old San Juan and site-see. The service is what you would expect from a luxurious hotel, perfect!
