“Had a great stay!”
From the moment I arrived, I was very satisfied with the hotel. I went with my siblings and they put us in rooms right next to each other even though we booked at different times. The staff was always friendly. We were there when hurricane Irene came through. When they (and the rest of the island) lost power and were running low on water, they recommended we go to another hotel that had services. They did not make anyone honor their reservations, in fact, they did the research for us to find out who had full service. The only thing I didn't like about it was all the restaurants and bars are expensive. There are places around that are much cheaper for both. That's the route we took. However, to me the purpose of having restaurants and bars in the hotel is so you don't have to leave if you don't want to. Also, doing the tours through them is more expensive than doing them with other tour groups.
“Can't wait to go back”
Overall, a great experience. The staff was friendly and service was excellent. The drinks were a little bit overpriced, but other than that I had no complaints.
“A very nice surprise!”
My partner and I had been to the casino in the El San Juan on our last trip two years ago and really liked the grandeur of the place. We decided we would like to stay there on our next visit to PR. When we checked in, I was pleasantly surprised at all the amenities the resort offers! The three swimming pools (on with the bar!), restaurants, beach, bars and very spacious. The rooms (we stayed in the lanais) were great! Every staff member was very pleasant and helpful. It was a great time! I'm looking to go back to PR soon (as I have family out there) and will def be staying at the El San Juan (next time, for a little longer!). I definitely recommend!
“only 200 feet too the beach this is what we thought puertorico should be like”
very nice casino ,live spanish music at night time, really close to the air port, very nice restaurants inside the motel, fast food close by also, one thing i would highly recomend if going to the pool or beach at night time get yourself some bug spray like off ,we had a extremely good time at this hotel, and i would higly recomend it to my own friends or familyyou will be inpressed with the hotel....
“Family vacation”
Just got back from the El San Juan for a large family vacation. I was quite nervous based on some of the bad reviews, however my experience was quite the opposite. We stayed for 6 days and I have to say the experience was great. The rooms were clean, pool area was beautiful, beach was fantastic, nightlife was better than any other hotel in Puerto Rico and the staff were extremely friendly (a big thank you to Yvonne at concierge who is fantastic!!). I would definitley return to the hotel. I have been at many other higher rated hotels in San Juan area, but have not had a better overall experience than here at the El San Juan. The only negative was the very expensive drinks and food. We made it a point to go to old san juan for dinner a majority of the nights. Alot of the negative reviews almost scared me off, but I am gald they did not. As with any vacation experience, you can aloways find something to complain about if you look hard enough. Just go and have fun and the experience should be great.
“Great place to stay”
Initially we were a bit apprehensive after reading previous reviews about how rude the staff was, but honestly I can say every single staff member we encountered was courteous and helpful. The building itself although built in the 70s has been renovated and you would never know from the inside. From the moment you walk into the lobby and through the galleries through to the pool areas and the beach you are surrounded by beautiful and modern décor and art. The hotel is located just 5 min from the airport and a 10 min cab ride from Old San Juan and the Plaza of the Americas mall. Can’t say much about the casino as we didn’t spend much time there, but there is plenty to do otherwise. There are several places to grab a quick meal or snack all within a few min walk from the hotel. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend the hotel without any reservation
“We love it”
My husband and I enjoy every minute of our stay. The live music was the best.
“Great vibe”
Great hotel. Great vibe. Great resort feel. Food is always overpriced, but that is everywhere.
“January Vacation”
The hotel was very accommodating and the staff went out of their way to make us feel at home. The pool was very clean, however they used bleach around the pool grounds in the early am and splashed on my wife's clothing when we walked to our chairs. Overall the hotel was beautiful but rather expensive to dine. I would recommend this hotel again but could definitely use more entertainment in the midweek.
“The trip of a lifetime!”
I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and very comfortable. In addition, the hotel was located in a good area where we had access to a variety of places. Some in walking distances.
