“Great value and service”
The Hotel General was a real find. The service was excellent from the beginning to the end. They sit you down and offer you a welcome drink upon arrival while they explain certain information about the hotel and then provide a little Prague orientation on a map. The service was friendly throughout the stay, always greeting you when you returned. Breakfast was very good. We stayed in the Napolean suite and it was comfortable and American-sized.
“Hotel for all visits to Prague”
A great hotel, with wonderful staff and a good room. Well worth the price! The staff were very courteous and helpful - giving advice on visiting Prague too. It is at a walkable distance from one of the central places in Prague with easy access to the metro, trams and buses to go to any part of Prague. The restaurant does not have a lot of items on the menu, but they were willing to prepare many things that we wanted. We would definitely stay here if we were to visit Prague again.
“Great hotel in Prague”
Very clean, quiet and nice hotel, 3 minutes from Metro station (subway). Excellent service and breakfast.
“Extraordinary Stay At Hotel General”
My husband and I just finished a 17 day escorted tour staying in many large 5* hotels, but, this little boutique hotel beats them all in terms of service and comfort. The staff was friendly and helpful and always have a smile on their faces. The breakfast buffet was out of this world! Not only do they have buffet items available, a limited list of items can also be custom ordered. The variety and quality of the food was excellent. Everything was served to us by waiters wearing white gloves! The room temperature was perfect and the room was spacious. Loved this hotel and will recommend it highly. They also provide pickup/dropoff service to the airport, albeit a little expensive for about 20 minutes in good traffic. Unfortunately, the driver for our dropoff was rude and did not help us with our luggage. I don't attribute this to the hotel however. It's the service they outsourced. The hotel knows this and will try to make sure this does not happen again. I have full confidence that they will because they are very proud of their service.
“brilliant!”
hotel was clean, comfortable and small enough to offer personal service. staff were brilliant and helpful, breakfast was delicious and we had an amzing time. location is out of the main tourist areas but easily accessible either walking/ metro or tram.
“Great hotel, terrific breakfast, a nice evening refuge from the tourist mob”
All the positive reviews about this hotel are true. The attention paid by the staff to personal needs, and to detail in general, is most impressive. Possibly the best breakfast service I've experienced in my 20 years of travel in the region. The rooms were clean and well appointed (I stayed in the Napoleon suite, which had a PC and entertainment system), certainly befitting a boutique hotel like the General. The sights are about a 20-30 minute walk away, but easily accessible by the highly efficient and affordable tram system (nearest stop is at the Andel mall, a 5-minute walk). Being a reasonable distance away from the sights is actually a positive feature of this hotel: there are several nice restaurants and bars around Andel, frequented mostly by locals---the quality of the food, and prices, are far superior to the usual tourist traps, and it's nice to get a vibe for the "real" Prague away from tourists, at least in the evenings. Stay here, you won't be sorry!
“Excellent Boutique Hotel/Outstanding Service/A Real Find”
This is a very comfortable boutique hotel with friendly and attentive staff. The building is beautiful and tastefully renovated. A good sum was spent on deeper structural improvements such as piping and double glazing of windows. The attention to detail for your comfort is exceptional. Breakfast was amazing, with solid choices on the buffet and fantastic options on the menu they make to order (all included in the room rate). The restaurant staff provided service that would rival any better restaurant. The hotel is situated close to the tram and metro. Walking to the center takes you about 15 minutes along the river. We think the Hotel stands out because of the staff. They make you feel very comfortable from the moment you arrive. But above all: they are very professional and friendly. A great find and a good value!
“fantastic”
as good as i have ever stayed in,the rooms are newly re-furbished to a very high standard. The hotel is very quiet and away from all the noise of any clubs making sure you get a good nights sleep. My wife allways judges a room by its bathroom and she was very inpressed with no complaints,so had to be high standard. The deal i had was for continental breakfast but staff were more than willing to cook allmost anything that you required,to be honest staff in hotel could't do enough for us. Only downside if any was that it took around 20 mins to the centre, but when you look at the scenery time is not really that relevant
“Excellent Hotel Worldclass service”
this lovely boutique hotel has only about 20 rooms. We were travelling with two young kids and were booked into the General Suite (Napoleon) which was a one bedroom suite. The kids beds were already setup for us when we checked in and the suite was impeccable, clean and just beautiful. the two bathrooms were spacious and stylish and if we were not in a lovely city like Prague we would have never left the room. More than anything it was the special service by the staff!!! the Manager was wonderful, he spent 30 minutes getting us familiar with the city, the sights and the public transport system. he answered every question patiently and was very charming. and not to forget Martin, the doorman, he was the sweetest guy ever. Our two young boys (8 &11) chatted with him and he told them all about the Czech crown jewels and the legends associated with the crown. the boys were fascinated and when they visited the castle they were explaining the legend to the others in our guided tour!!! Hotel General was a fantastic experience. it was a little distance from the main attractions but trams or metro you can get to the main attractions in 10 minutes, it was definitely worth the 10 minutes!!
“A little gem in a great location”
The hotel was a great find, an ideal location just off the river, only 20 minutes walk from central Prague, but with plenty of local pubs / restaurants / shops on your doorstep. The hotel was of a very high standard, the staff were impeccable, the service was exemplary. You had all the quality of a big chain hotel, but with the personal service and attention of a small intimate hotel. The staff you knew by name, and remembered your drink selections, and provided a first class personal service. We travelled with our young child, and the baby facilities (cot, high chair) were first class, and they really accommodated a small child. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wanted a little piece of heaven in Prague.

Smichov, Prague, Czech Republic: Tourists come to this outlying westerly suburb to visit the Mozart Museum in the Villa Bertramka, where Mozart stayed as a guest of the Czech composer Dusek in 1787. Not long afterwards, Smichovs vineyards and hopfields were replaced by factory chimneys. Today, many of these old industrial buildings have been converted into bars, shops and hotels for a fresh influx of residential settlers.
