I had so many doubts after reading all bad reviews that I almost cancelled the reservation. So glad I didn’t! The hotel had probably the most stunning views in whole Positano. It is up the hill so you must climb 1000 stairs to get there from the center of the town, however, Positano is all about stairs! I cant believe so many people gave a bad review just for the stairs. You can get a bus which is around the corner of the Hotel or work on your leg muscles and climb these stairs! The staff were very friendly and helpful. Can’t comment on food too much because we were having meals outside, just had breakfast, which was very good. The room was spacious, separate bedroom, living area, and of course THE VIEW! It could do with some renovating or at least changing the foldable bed covers as they were very worn out, but it didnt bother us. Its was a bit of old fashioned design and furniture, but oh well, everything was clean, bed was comfortable, shower worked great. I would definitely book the hotel again if I am coming back to Positano!

Hotel staff was very kind, especially the bartender. We would have liked the pool to be open as it wasn’t specified as closed when we booked it. Also be aware that there are a ton of stairs to get to the hotel. Unless you book a car, walking will be a pain, so either be okay with a taxi or be in decent shape. They also don’t provide beach towels nor want you to take the bathroom ones understandably. Would’ve liked to be able to have beach towels at the price. Overalll worked for us, but if you have the money may be worth it to stay somewhere closer.

This property was wonderful! The staff was so friendly and great. The location is very good, for its price. Positano is a city of steps. They have a short cut of 400 steps to town, which honestly is much better than the other route. I was so upset reading the comments after booking this hotel, please rest assure it is a good accommodation. It was clean. No bed bugs such as others have posted. It’s not a ritz Carlton, but for the price compared to the other hotels this is a nice choice of a hotel.

The staff was absolutely kind, welcoming, and helpful. The hotel conditions reveal their former glory days. So expect a dated property. Our room had a bit of a wet dirty humid sent when we arrived but had an incredible balcony view of Positano and that beautiful mediterranean ocean. That also meant we were really high up in the mountain side so be prepared to walk a lot up and down or get a taxi. Be prepared to add that to your budget for a taxi ($30 each way).

The staff are wonderful and helpful. The property is dated but it is clean. My main concern is that the price was too much for how ugly the hotel is in appearance. I know it can only get that price based on its locale. I just hope they revitalize the interior. Also the A/C barely works but I expect thats on par for Amalfi Coast.

Biggest pool we ever saw; well handled. -too many rules at the pool (only one entry/exit) can't sit on the edge, no food at our chairs, inconsistent music at the pool. It could stay open longer too. Loved the singer on the terrace and 24 hr staff. Breakfast was terrific! So many options.

Our visit at the Royal Hotel Positano was perfect! Staff was friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and accommodating. We loved our experience. The reason for 4 stars is that it’s an older property and difficult to navigate.
