“Excellent”
The hotel is very well located by the river and close to local restaurants and is in a very atmospheric area and convenient for the city centre with its shops and cafés. It had everything we needed and was run very efficiently.
“Location, location, location”
Before I booked this hotel I noticed that some earlier reviews were mixed. I can say unambiguously that the room we booked was excellent. I was concerned that the room might be noisy - as some earlier reviews had indicated - but it was extraordinarily well-silenced: double glazing and triple-curtains on the windows. Our room was a corner room that overlooked the square and the river; it had 5 windows and we didn't hear any sound from outside at all. The views room the room are fantastic - the bridge, the Douro River and the Port Lodges are laid out in front of you and are all easily accessible on foot. Service in the breakfast room - which some earlier reviews had also commented on - was very good, with just an occasional delay. Breakfast is also available on the terrace outside. Dinner in the hotel dining room was very good indeed. Don Tonho is less than 200 metres away and is also very good - not really any more expensive than the more obviously tourist places in the quay. Our best dining experience was at "O Commercio" in the Bolsa (Treasury) Building, a short walk away. Commercio shares its daytime terrace with the Church of St Francis (Igreja de São Francisco).

“Perfect in Porto!”
The Pestana hotel in the centre of Porto was super! It's a character hotel and the decor was very original. The cleanliness and service were excellent. A huge choice for beakfast each day. The location is perect and our room had a splendid view of the square and River Douro. It's right in the centre with all restaurants, bars, cafes and tourist attreactions all in easy walking distance. I would recommend visiting this city and staying at the Pestana.

“Very nice hotel”
Great location in the old town by the river, and only 10 mins walk or 5 mins in a taxi from the main station. Polite, helpful staff who speak impeccable English. Rooms were comfortable and spacious. We've stayed there twice now and would recommend it.

“Great Location on Douro River”
Wonderful view outside window to the Douro River and the Port Wine makers across the river in Gaia. Hotel is in great shape, room was clean and comfortable. The only piece of advice is if you rent a car and are driving to Porto, make sure you ask directions to the hotel. It can be confusing and stressful to get there once you get off the main highway (A1) from Lisbon. You have to park the car in a public lot a few blocks away, after you unload your baggage in front of the hotel.
“Very impressive, highly recommended”
We visited Porto over Easter 2007 and had been looking forward to staying at the Pestana Porto Hotel which looked wonderful from the pictures we saw on the internet. Once we arrived the hotel did not disappoint and, indeed, exceeded our expectations. We had a fabulous de-luxe room with full river view and balcony the length and breadth of the room. The view was magnificient.
