“The Governor Rules!”

Fantastic hotel. Great location to what I wanted to do (drink beer and coffee :)... Close enough to the river front and everything else in the Pearl and Old Town. Loved it.

“A delightful place to stay”

Upon my arrival I was warmly greeted by all of the staff. I found it refreshing to be at a hotel where everybody seemed to enjoy their job and sincerely wanted my stay to be as enjoyable as possible. The room was tastefully decorated and comfortable, and the hotel was situated within walking distance of everywhere I wanted to go, and right on the trolley line. The person at the front desk not only made suggestions for a restaurant, he called them and made a reservation for me and told the people at the restsurant to " treat her well, as she is a very special person". Where else can you get treatment like that?

“Outstanding!”

This was an outstanding find. Both myself and my wife loved it. The elegance was not overt and the staff were very friendly. Being close to the light rail made it an easy trip fom the airport and also to downtown.

“Great hotel for vacation or business travel, just okay for conference”

I greatly enjoyed my hotel room during this stay. The hotel is a stately, older landmark in the Portland area, but the rooms are nicely updated and reflect modernism. The hotel bar has excellent food and drinks as well. I stayed at the hotel for a conference and I felt that the conference space was just "okay". The rooms were freezing, air was not regularted well. Having 250 people try to get from one floor to the next on one tiny elevator or the tiny stairwell was very difficult and clausterphopic. Although the meeting rooms were beautiful with great artchitecture, maybe they are best for smaller conferences or meetings. Parking is pricey, but the valet staff is great!

“Loved it!”

The hotel was in a great location. Shopping, restaurants, nightlife... all very close. Loved the fact that we had our own entrance to Starbucks right from the lobby. Beds were comfy. Everything was clean. Do have to wait for the elevators, so try to stay as close to the ground as possible. :) Will definitely go back!

“First class hotel and service”

The staff were friendly, going out of their way to be helpful. The room was comfortable and spacious with excellent amenities. The structure was beautiful and historic. It was such a pleasure, we hated to leave! I recommend it to anyone going to Portland. Even though it was in downtown, it was quiet. Street noise did not intrude. It is close to everything, with a Starbucks and restaurant in the ground floor. Free computer access in lobby and economical parking a block away.

“If I go back to Portland, I am going to stay there!”

I stayed there for one night and I wanted a hotel, from where I could explore Portland in a short period of time. The Governor Hotel was perfect for that. Perfect location, in a walking distance from the Pearl District, the Rierfront, Downtown, everywhere I wanted to go. Also, the Street car stop is just in front of the hotel. The hotel, despite its age, was well maintained. The rooms, bedding, towels, excellent.
