“Great comfortable accommodations!!!”
This was the second stay at this hotel in a month. Everything was as nice as the first time I stayed. There was a snow storm in Portland so I ended up staying in town rather than driving the hour home. I stayed in a Queen room with private bath. The room was spacious and clean with a certain quaintness to it. There was a flat panel TV, a sink and refrigerator in the room, The front desk staff was very pleasant and accommodating, explaining about the continental breakfast served in the small area off the lobby. The bathroom which I had a key to was exclusively mine and just one door away from my room in the hallway. This was a slight inconvenience, but not a problem at all. There were also robes, an iron & ironing board and a coffee maker in the room. For the low rate I paid for the night, I think I got the best bargain in Portland. The rooms are warm & comfortable, and they really make you feel at home here.
“Nice Inn with B&B feel”
Very nice inn with B&B feel, but without the expensive B&B prices (we booked via expedia.com). Coffee and Tea always available. Basic continental breakfast - not fancy, but will do if you are on a budget or in a hurry. Breakfast primarily consists of cereal, toast/bagel, fruit, commercial baked goods. My husband thought the coffee was a bit strong for his taste, but I liked it because I tend to like strong coffee.
“Good price”
It's a great hotel for the price. The staff was very friendly, and it's well kept. A bit far of a walk from downtown Portland though.
“1 star price, 3 star value.”
Nicely decorated Victorian style, friendly staff, simple breakfast with plenty of choices. Worth every penny. We're planning to go back.
“Great B&B”
Very nice and friendly staff, the room was quiet, clean and comfortable. The building has lots of character. I doubt I could find as nice for even twice the price. Next time I visit Portland, I will surely stay there again.
“Really quaint and quiet”
Staff is great--I got an upgrade to a queen w/ private bath no problem because they messed up my room; staff was friendly and told me how to get to just about anywhere in Portland by bus, which was great because I'm a student and am not about taking cabs (what a waste!) One guy even walked me to the bus stop I should get on to get to the airport instead of just saying it was around the corner, etc. The rooms are really cute, but don't open the windows, it can get pretty loud because of all the traffic of the city. But the windows are heavy duty and it's really quiet inside otherwise. Really great place!
“Minnesota travelers”
We found this hotel very quaint, and clean . The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The cont. breakfast was VERY good, with lots of choices . The big cookies were very welcome . I would recommend this hotel everyone..
“Nice get away”
Within walking distance to state theatre and David 's restaurant which was wonderful! Would definitely go back!
“Unexpected greatness!!!!!”
Have driven past the Inn at St. John every day fro the past 5 years as I work in Portland. Needed a night just to stay in town for little money. My room was spotless & very comfortable. Bed was great!!! Robes in the bathroom, flat panel TV. I will only stay here from now on when I need to stay in town. Continental breakfast in AM consisting of croissants, english muffins, bagels, muffins, coffee, cereal. VERY NICE....
“Very Pleasant Stay - Great Staff”
The first room we stayed in was a small Queen with a Private Hall Bathroom. The room was very nice but the bathroom being outside the room was inconvenient and the shower was incredibly small. The next two nights we stayed in a King on the first floor. It was a major upgrade for not that much more cost. Impressive furniture, nice lighting, upgraded amenities, a bath tub with jets and a flat screen TV. All of the staff were professional and friendly. They made the stay even more enjoyable. I would definitely consider staying at the Inn At St John again.
