“It's a motor lodge”

I was looking for a cheaper room to stay a night near Port Jefferson. This place was fine and relatively cheap. It is a no-frills motor lodge, but that is what you want when you are looking in their price range. It did have free wifi and cable, so all-in-all not a terrible hotel. There was construction on the street it was on, which made it a bit more difficult to get in and out of their parking lot.

“Perfectly fine for those on a budget.”

Of course you can find nicer, more luxurious hotels in the area, but you will pay a price. This one is perfectly fine for a few days and is much less than anything else in the Stony Brook University, Port Jefferson area. If I go back, I will stay here, again. The value is the reason my overall satisfaction exceeds the score of most individual components.

“Far from campus, cheapest in area and sufficient”

I went to Long Island to visit Stony Brook University, and this was the cheapest hotel I could find. It was far away from campus, but fine. The building is old and there are no frills, but the bed was clean and comfortable.

“Solid Value for the Money”

check out the pictures. it is NOT a fancy looking place. but for my purposes - getting in late at night - getting up in the AM and leaving - it was just fine. very reasonably priced. wireless internet access. very friendly proprietor. I would stay again and recommend it for the value-oriented traveler.

“A motel to spend the night”

Only stay there if you do not have other option. I decided to stay there to go in the next day to the beach. So I considered my experience like I was spending the night in a camping park, which means with NO CONFORT!

“For a 2 star hotel, it does the job”

For a 2 star hotel, it's what you'd expect. As hotels which keep the clerk behind a plastic protector go, it's pretty good. Fine for an overnight stay for someone who happens to be passing through Port Jefferson. People behind the desk were very polite and courteous. Rooms were clean.

“Good price for the area”

There were electrical issues, because the light switch did not work, and the lamp had no switch, so if you wanted to use it, you had to plug it in, then unplug it. Other than that, the room was convenient to Stony Brook, and a much better price than the convention rate for their hotels. It was nice to be able to smoke in the room. Wish there had been a coffee maker, but the office had morning coffee.

Regular motel - didn't have any issues. Good location, no noise, had a good night sleep, nice staff - checked me in early.

“Very clean room with a 70's feel”

America's Best Value Inn is an older drive-up style motel that has recently been updated somewhat. It was very clean which was my biggest concern so that was a plus. The TV had been updated to a flat screen with plenty of channels to choose from. The furniture and fixtures are very basic and pretty dated. Besides the bed and TV, the room only included 1 random chair, a table, and a mini fridge. The bathroom has not been updated and still includes pea green tiles up the walls, a 70's style stand-up shower, and is VERY small. In summary, I was in the area for a big event at Stony Brook so every other reasonably priced hotel was sold out. I knew I would be out of the room all day and only be back at night and for this purpose it was fine but nothing more. Next year I'll make my reservations earlier and stay in one of the newer, large chain hotels.
