“Will be back”
Staff were great and the included breakfast buffet was excellent. The restaurants in the hotel are of very high quality. Our room was upgraded at no cost to a suite and it was beautiful to say the least. It was a wonderful stay in a beautiful, well appointed hotel.
“great hotel”
Great location. very knowledgable staff. Speak great english, very helpful. nice breakfast. great location.
“Great place to stay in a great town”
Cobblestone streets, a quaint park, music and laughter throughout the night, even the occasional horse and buggy clip-clopping by, these relics of a simpler time surround you at the Hotel Talisman, along with one more important anachronism -- a reasonable price. We spent six nights in a suite there, plus a morning in a smaller room the kindly clerk offered us for free to rest after an overnight flight from the U.S. There are plenty of modern amenities: free wifi, satellite TV, a small rooftop pool and exercise room with a great view, help with car rental and cabs, multilingualism. The included breakfast could be delivered to your room for Eur3. The restaurant was good and open late. The only thing I would change (a nit, really), is that the living room seemed too empty in the suite; perhaps the table and chairs and minibar should be there instead of the bedroom (which had a table and chairs on its covered deck). A second TV in the living room would also be nice. The smaller room we stayed in did not have a flat panel or balcony, but was nice. The staff was very helpful. Ponta Delgada is a beautiful city in a beautiful country. It is not well-known to non-Portuguese Americans; most other tourists sounded German or Scandinavian to us, and the people on our plane from Boston seemed to be Portuguese. Being at the Talisman with the windows open and hearing the sounds of the city outside made us feel like we were in their club, at least for a while.
“Hotel Talisman is a gem!”
My adult daughter and I loved our 4 nights at the Hotel Talisman. When the tourist bureau was out of maps for Azorean Walking Trails, the hotel staff printed them for us. Their recommendations for dining were perfectly suited to us, the location was fantastic for walking towards the port, the parking was secure. The helpful and available and knowledgable staff, who spoke English, really were a highlight.
“Would happily stay there again”
The staff were friendly & helpful & the room was well appointed with a lovely balcony view over tha adjacent square. They were happy to provide a small breakfast in my room as I needed to check out before the regular breakfast time. The position is ideal for town centre shopping. The very minor downsides were: (a) no coffee / tea facilities in the room (b) they'd forgotten to leave a bathtowel (c) they kept turning the room's air conditioning back on while I was out when I'd deliberately turned it off & left the window open. (d) there was some building work going on which disturbed my intended lie-in.
“central location - wonderful holiday”
Stayed at the Hotel Talisman May 2011 which is well placed for going out and about. We were allocated a room on the first floor overlooking the garden square outside the hotel. Beds are very firm as we had read in other reviews so we were prepared. We requested beds together rather than as twin which they had organised. Staff on reception were lovely, spoke good english and were very helpful. Breakfast was plenty to set you up for the day. Only two real negatives for me Cold plates for hot food and an extremely slow toaster. Majority of staff very friendly and helpful. Bars were good and were also used by local people. On the last night I had a Baileys and ice cream cocktail it was scrumptious, consider carefully if you have more than one it was very potent. We went on two tours and a whale watching trip with Tourismo. We had a fantastic time and the guides were excellent and very informative. They also spoke very good english and really wanted you to enjoy yourself. Would love to go back and see some of the other islands as well.
“Great Azores Hotel”
Food is excellent and the staff are very helpfull, in all an ideal hotel.
“Excellent city centre hotel”
Overall the hotel was very good, food in the restaurant in the evening was also very good value for money although a bit more variation would have been welcome. Service by all staff was excellent, all speak very good English and very helpful. Reception will arrange all trips, hire cars, taxis etc. although tourist information in town is also very good. There was some construction work immediately opposite the main hotel entrance which detracted from the ambience slightly but was not noisy, likewise the paved area in front of the hotel was very uneven. Other areas such as the terrace restaurant and sports bar weren't affected by the building works. Air conditioning worked well in our suite but very small balcony in this particular suite, only room for one chair and no balcony furniture provided. The jacuzzi bath didn't work and no coffee/tea provided although kettle and cups so you need to take your own supply or buy locally. Would definately recommend the Hotel Talisman for first visit to the island and Ponta Delgada.
“Good location”
I stay one week with my grandson and we are satisfied with most of it. Positiv: Helpful people, good location, nice big room. Negativ: WIFI in room was bad, we had to sit by the door to get connection at all. Room with balcony they told us, balcony was 20 cm. The serving people in the breakfest room, was not very service minded.
