The hotel was beautiful. rooms were spacious and elegant.. Food was better than expected and the staff was more than wonderful.. I was with a group of 13 and we all had a great time. Most of us plan on going back yearly.
We stayed here for 2 nights before going to Tulum. The location is perfect right off of La Quinta. Close to all the restaurants, shops and the beach! The rooftop bar/pool had a great vibe and the drinks were superb. we will definitely be back.
The Bric is just a really very pleasant little hotel in a great location just yards from 5th avenue and the hustle and bustle, but remaining quite and calm and thoroughly pleasant. The rooms are simply furnished but extremely clean and a pleasure to stay in. The pool is not large but was quite large enough to enjoy ourselves as a party of 4 adults, and is extremely peaceful surrounded by tropical plants if you choose not to go to the beach.
We'd thoroughly recommend the breakfasts too. At 100 pesos they're excellent value, including fruit with granola, & yoghurt, toast with flavored butters and marmalade, and a varying main course such as eggs, bacon and potatoes plus coffee and juice. Mary does a marvelous job and we found the different courses delicious every day.
The reception staff also are incredibly helpful, especially Hilda and Veronica who helped us virtually every day with tours and taxis.
If you're expecting 5 star luxury then of course you'll be disappointed but if you're looking for a straightforward hotel with a pool & clean rooms then we'd strongly recommend you give it a try. We've stayed at many of the 4 & 5 star all inclusives in the riviera maya & enjoyed our stay in the Bric more than any of them. In no small part down to the location in the heart of Playa Del Carmen - opportunities to enjoy the local cuisine abound and I'd strongly recommend people to stray off 5th avenue and try some of the smaller eateries; particularly on 10th ave & further north.

"Boutique Hotel with Exclusive Feel, yet affordable"
The Palm at Playa is the BEST non-all-inclusive hotel in Playa Del Carmen!! If you're on a budget staying at a smaller hotel or don't want to pay triple the price for an all-inclusive resort, definitely try P@P. The rooftop pool & bar is the best in PDC for two reasons, the staff and the feeling of exclusivity. Unlike the huge resorts, this pool has a very private feel to it, much welcomed when coming from a big city. The other boutiques have nice pools on the ground floor but they are surrounded by the hotel structure which means limited hours of sun, while P@P is on the roof so you get sun all day! On Saturday and Sunday they have a DJ pumping chill, deep-house music from 1PM to 6PM. Plus the drinks are reasonably priced and the snacks are great. If its your first time playa you'll discover most people DON'T hang at the beach because of the seaweed and the smell, so a good hotel pool is key. Alberto runs a great operation!
Unlike the large, all-inclusive hotels, P@P gives you the freedom to explore the many delicious restaurants in the city instead of being stuck at the resort. I recommend Plank & Improvist (fancy food $$$), Kaxapa Factory (Venezuelan), Don Sirloin (the best cheap tacos 1/2$), or if feeling adventurous take a taxi to the edge of town and try Alux (it's in a Cave).
P@P includes a free breakfast between 6-11, is amazing! You get juice, coffee, a small fruit platter, toast upon request, and one main breakfast dish - try the green chilaquiles!
Still small enough to explore on foot, Playa del Carmen has a relaxed, yet cosmopolitan feel, with a variety of hotels, shops, and restaurants ranging from causal to upscale. European-style sunbathing is common on beaches. Playa is a popular jumping-off point for day trips to Xcaret, Xel-Ha, Tulum, and other peninsula attractions, and a passenger ferry makes frequent runs to Cozumel.
