"Perfect Place to Stay- Central and Beach Area!"
You are one block from the beach, and half a block from 5th Ave. We had a penthouse, two bedroom (one king and two twins) for four women. We had a beautiful rooftop patio with a palapa for shade with lounge chairs, jacuzzi and barbecue (pictures are true representation). We used the jacuzzi at night to relax after a day at the beach and a nice dinner downtown. Everything was walking distance. Unit 220 was very quiet (the only noise was kids playing in pool during evening). It overlooks the pool from the front sliding door (has a small table and chairs by the front door) on the second floor. The beds were super comfy and the condo was very clean. The condo is equipped with fresh drinking water, dishes, glasses, silverware, etc. The food was extra cost, but we never needed it since restaurants and shops were extremely close. We went to Maya spa and had a really good experience with massages and facials. Worth the money! We went to the sister property were the beachfront was, El Taj, and loved the beds/loungers, service and the relaxing environment. There aren't waves, but if you walk past the anchored boats the water was incredible. If you want a nice beach, walk to Mamitas. We reserved a bed and two loungers with an umbrella. Great music on the beach and the vibe is very Ibiza, chill, but people enjoying drinks and food and the beautiful beach. Not a crazy party scene. Met cool people while hanging in the water, and it can get crowded. I highly recommend Porto Playa!

"Clean modern room with setbacks"
Upon check-in the front desk guy was extremely personable and helpful. He gave me a great suggestion for dinner that exactly fit my needs. The room is modern and clean with good wifi reception and a big tv with digital cable. The bed was very firm and comfortable. Now for the bad. There is one small window that opens about six inches outward into an alley. There is close to zero natural light or air in this room. The AC can only be activated when you place your room key in a card reader upon entry to your room. This is great to save energy, however with no natural air flow in the room you are greeted to a hot and uncomfortable temperature every time you return to the room. Turns out the hotel is right in the middle of all the clubs. My bed was literally shaking from the bass. The club directly downstairs wasn't even open that night and the sound from the club next door was nearly unbearable. I was originally booked for two nights but cancelled the second night because I didn't want to find out how loud the club was downstairs when it was open. To top it all off there was zero cell phone reception in my room. I had an important telephone interview in the morning. I asked the new morning front desk person if I could use a vacant room at the end of the hallway that had reception for just 20 minutes. She told me no and didn't offer an alternative or try to help. Tried to chalk it up to a language barrier. I ended up doing the interview craning my head out that tiny window .

"Overall very good"
The staff could not have been more helpful (Thank you Oscar!) in either Spanish or English. Great location for either beach or strolling 5th Ave, Just keep in mind that if you are in room 307 you may hear street noise or tour buses from the big hotel next door but you also get the end unit with nice table and couch out front. Great place, especially for the price!

"Keep Coming Back"
This was my third stay at El Taj and each time I love it just as much as the last. The staff are incredibly nice and helpful with recommendations for eating around town and always there to help with anything. I can't wait to come back, sit at the beach club and have a few drinks.

"Perfect for families or larger groups"
We took 3 teenage girls and 3 adult women for a weekend trip. We had a 3 bedroom villa. It was 3 large bedrooms (2 kings & 1 queen) and 3 bathrooms. It was perfect! A full kitchen and living room. Close to the beach, right next to 5th street shopping, and dining (I recommend El Sur on 5th Street). Everything we needed was there. If we had questions, staff would answer or find out for us. One of the ladies went out of her way to contact our transportation service (to the airport) to confirm for us and they gave her a run around (8 different #''s) and she completed the task and did so with a smile. It was raining one day and they provided umbrellas. They had small areas with jacuzzi's, bbq grills, and lounge chairs on the roof. Just let them know and they will get it ready for you (not very private though if that is what you are looking for). The only reason I gave them a 4 and not a 5 on facilities is because they provide a small continental breakfast and I would have liked just a touch more (maybe more fruit & yogurt?). I will go back and take my family!!

"Amazing Small Hotel"
We were very pleased with the room which had a small kitchen area with sink, microwave, two burner stove, glasses, pots and pans, and other needed items. It was very clean and had no musty, tropical smells like some hotels close to a beach. The pool was tiny but attractive. The balcony and complementary breakfast was wonderful. The beach is a working beach with small boats anchored there, but you could walk to other areas easily. Beach chairs and umbrellas were provided. Balcony was a delight with a hammock and dining table. Location was in an area close to the main shopping street and many restaurants. Drinking water was provided. There was no onsite parking, but we found parking spaces within a block or so from the hotel. Our only problem was that water pressure dropped for several minutes after the toilet was flushed. The television was a large flat screen. We were pleased that an in room safe was also included. We would go back to this hotel in a heartbeat. For a budget hotel, it was all we could have expected and more!
