Hampton Inn is usually fantastic. This one was…well, gross. When we walked in the room, there was the faint smell of urine. Very faint, but it was there. Then I noticed how damp the room was. I’m used to air conditioning having a dehumidifying effect, but not in this room. By the next morning, clothes that were on the floor were literally wet, and our medications in a pill case were wet. It was a humid few days, so if we had the AC off, we were hot and sweaty. Turn the AC on and you’re cold and clammy. I don’t know why there was no dehumidification.
There were several drain flies in the bathroom, along with some gnats throughout the room. The tub didn’t drain, so we showered in shin-deep water.
The reason I didn’t bring this up to the front desk at the time is the fact that my son is autistic and he wouldn’t have been happy if anyone had to come in to check things out, or if our room had to change.
I’ll still book at Hampton, because this one was definitely the exception to the rule. But all in all, it was awful.
