We stayed there about 15 years ago. It was great. Now..it's a dirty run down hole. The 100s or day tourist that ruin the xperience compound the disaster. We booked 7 nights and left after 1. It's just awful....I mean awful, terrible.

Dear Paul Andrews,I am sorry to read about your experience and for falling short of your expectations. Please accept my sincerest apologies.I was working here 19 years ago. Previous years the beach was full of umbrellas and chairs. You can't even see the beach. Now the beach is free of umbrellas and beach chairs.The day tourists in Phuket have been coming to Racha island in the months of November through April each year, long even before The Racha started. They come because of the natural beauty of the island and what it has to offer; and would continue to come regardless of whether the beach club or resort existed. As mentioned previously, all beaches in Thailand are by Law public and as such, there is not much we can do to stop day trippers from visiting the island. For your information, the beach club did not exist and was not part of resort when it originally opened. It is a new addition and developed in response to our guests’ comments about the beach being crowded with day tourists during the peak season. The Racha then decided to acquire the land and develop the beach club for the day trippers so that they would have a proper venue to spend their day and hopefully make the beach less crowded for our guests.Without intending to be repetitious, please see our response to the other similar comments which your partner has posted in a preceding review. Very nice. The sunset restaurant on the beach was never open but we soon learnt that it was not part of the hotel. Boat trips were available but as they were expensive they were regularly cancelled on the day of the trip. Internet availability was awful. It was very slow and you had to sign in to each area of the hotel you were in. Each sign in only lasted a day so a bit disappointed really. On site Hotel Spa was very good.

Magnificent stay and hotel
The hotel and the staff are just perfect. Everyday the staff has kind attentions. The beach is beautiful, the food delicious and the villas have high European comfort standards. We were so delighted that we extended our stay twice!

Great service
It was perfect and nice. The only thing to comment is the turist comming in with boats every day to see the island on the beach and They where very loud, even made the beach dirty. That was not relaxing. But the resort was amazing and great service.

A Beautiful Resort
My family and I really enjoyed our stay at the Racha. When day-trippers flooded the beach, it was nice to have on the grounds to relax in that were not accessible by them. We were greeted with a nice bottle of wine in our room as well as a little treat every night with turn-down service. This made us feel special. My mom and sister had a very unrelaxing massage experience but management rectified the situation. Other than that, the only real complaint is that the food is a bit inconsistent at Sunset Beach Restaurant. My mom enjoyed her veg curry both times, but I did not like my pad thai when I ordered it (too saucy), however, it was good when my brother-in-law ordered it a few days later. The same went with their dinner menu (items either over-cooked or under-cooked). Overall, a wonderful experience at a sustainable, 5-star resort. I would definitely return and recommend the Racha to others.

the hotel provides good services given it is located in an isolated island. the beach adjacent to the hotel is very swimmer friendly, pristine sands, turquoise sea water and the staff are very friendly and helpful. it is a wonderful time though the restuarant selection is a bit limit and the complex itslf is a little dated. if you enjoy the beach the downsides can easily outweighed by the awesome beach.

For a Tranquil Getaway
Its an amazing location. White sand beaches and crystal clear water. It does get crowded with public between 11:30 AM and 4 PM. But other times its very private. You can snorkel & dive right on the island coast.

One of the best resort I have stayed in the region! The beach is picturesque and accessible from the resort. The resort have private benches only for hotel guest which is excellent. Staff are all helpful and polite as expected from a 5 stars resort and they never disappoint. I will highly recommend The Racha resort for couples looking for a nice and quiet getaway! Just take note and do your research of the right season to go before booking. Thumbs up for all the staff that I encountered during my stay!

A little gem
Amazing location and a nice change after coming to phuket and her surrounding islands for more than 12 years. We had one small issue with our room which was fixed - although with a little difficulty initially. It was rainy season so getting around the island was not easy due to large mud puddles and my fear of monitor lizards...... but they had ATVs nearby which was a great way to look around. There were a couple of minimarts on the island (no atm that I noticed) and a few additional restaurants of you like basic street food. The hotel food was great - we stayed 5 days so by the 5th day the menu was a bit predictable - not a complaint - just something to be mindful of. The only downside was that ithe resort and surrounding beaches (day trippers) seemed to be a resort only for Chinese?? And I felt not so much a tourist in Thailand but rather a foreigner in China. Other than the boards of daytrippers swimming in life jackets - the beaches were stunning

view is the best
The racha is placed in island. so It's not easy to get there. but it was worth to get there. beautiful islands, sees, hotels. when I was in the pool in my room(2bed room) , the view was amazing. I really loved it. I'm planning to go to the racha again

Check out process will leave you waiting around. It was an awkward experience where they made us feel like everything needed to be checked before we left. Loading out to the boat was late when they pushed us to make sure we were there an hour before we actually left

We have a 3 year old daughter but all hotel stuffs were very frindly and we could enjoy our stay, We were there between dry and rainy season but weather was luckily good and rate was good also for low season . The best beach resort ever by far!

Great for a relaxing break
The Racha provided a wonderful holiday experience. Great staff, lsoacious and airy accommodation, high-quality food and plenty of activities (spa, gym, water sports) for those not simply content with lying by the pool or on the beach. Very highly recommended.

Great view and beautiful beach
Great beach and calm water good for kids. Views on the island were stunning! Very quite and private after the daily tour groups left.

Go to The Racha.
Real neat hotel. Food is great. Take the Thai cooking class. Beach is busy but they all are. I wanted to do something islandish while in Thailand but I get seasick. So being only 15 miles off shore and speedboat transport available it worked out great. Even I can hold out for 20-30 minutes on the ocean. Snokling was amazing for no actual reef. Just big rocks. Would go back in a heartbeat.
