Great time
“Peacuful”
If you are looking for a quiet tranquil resort this is the place. Service is excellent. Plenty of restaurants to choose from. Nice size rooms. Both golf courses are excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed spa treatments. Not as close to airport as some of the other resorts. Overall experience was great! If you are looking to just chill out and relax then this is the place.
“Desert Beauty”
Beautiful place, just a short drive from the airport. Excellent, friendly service. Comfortable beds. Peaceful & quiet. Loved the Golden Door Spa. Truly a relaxing getaway.
“Villa Stay”
My original room was not available so was upgraded to a villa suite. A very generous upgrade. The villa was nicely furnished and supplied. It had a number of mechanical issues; no shower hot water, air conditioning wasn't working well, light bulb in cosmetic mirror was out, bathtub sprayer not working, drain not staying open when draining the tub. All were reported and dealth with the next day. The living room had a chemical odor, possibly from the couch? but couldn't pinpoint. Overall, a very pleasant stay.
“Loved it!”
The Boulders was amazing. We really struggled with where to stay because some of the reviews were bad. After staying there, I don't know where those bad reviews came from. We stayed in a Boulders Casita. It was definitely worth the extra money. The hotel staff was kind and accommodating. They drove us anywhere we wanted on the golf carts. The grounds were impeccable and the views were awesome. We rented a car, and went to a local grocery store to stock our fridge with snacks. That helped cut back the costs some. Bogey's restaurant in the golf club had good prices. We also ate at the spa cafe for lunch one day. It was slightly more expensive, but the food we had was delicious and healthy. The only thing we were NOT impressed with was El Pedegral. It was completely dead and very overpriced. The Spotted Donkey is in El Pedegral. We went there for a drink and there was not a bartender/waiter/bus boy in sight, so we left. Drive down the road to Jalapeno Inferno if you're looking for good Mexican food. Aside from El Pedegral, the Boulders is our favorite vacation destination ever, and we have been on quite a few vacations to lovely places (Dominican Republic, Nassau, Puerto Vallarta). We decided that we want to make this our vacation spot, and we hope to come back every year.
“Boulders Hotel---From Ohio”
Overall, the hotel and staff was excellent. The valets were extremely courteous and knowledgable of the area. And the grounds were equisite; it was like staying on a nature preserve. As for the negatives, the Spotted Donkey restaurant was way below average. It was ordinary mexican food, and the service was terrible! The hotel said that they recently aquired the restaurant, and I guess they are still training the staff. And the hotel assumes that you will spend at least $150 per day, so they make that authorization on your card per day. I did speak to them and explained that that was unacceptable, and they stopped that. Again, OVERALL it was an excellent hotel and excellent place to stay; and we will be back! Just beware of the two things that I mentioned and you should be fine.
“Unique, High Quality Service; Not for Pool Seekers”
A great hotel in a unique location in the Phoenix area - - - the desert and the boulders are really cool and totally unlike other resorts around Phoenix. The service is fantastic. And value for the money is probably above average. One of the best spa treatments we've had in a while (if a little pricey). My really only issue is that there are three pools, each relatively small and fairly crowded. Its an older resort that's had some high quality facelifts, but they haven't been able to lick the issue with the smaller, crowded pools. If you're into the outdoors, golf, etc. this is totally for you - if you're hunting for a pool to lounge around, this may not be the best bet... Also dining options were a little quirky / limited between very high end in one restaurant and sandwiches in the golf house restaurant.
“Only place I will stay!”
We just stayed a long weekend at the Boulders. It was the most relaxing stay. I called ahead and made some changes with Ron. He was professional, and kind. The service at the Boulders was exceptional. We will stay there each and every time we visit Arizona!
“The Boulders”
Beautiful setting, fabulous spa, private and comfy room. Had a great time and relaxed. Loved that the resort fee covered all tips so we had no second thoughts about using bellman services.
“Loved it!”
