“satisfied”
sartisified my need on a short notice trip to phoenix, and the price was right thank you,was a little out of the way from my destination, was acceptable
“family weekly stay”
My wife and I and our 2 young kids stayed there for a week. Just a couple huge in the room. Free breakfast was real minimal. Other than that good place to stay.
“Satisfied”
I was concerned about staying here because of the reviews I had read. The hotel was in a convenient location to where we were visiting which is why I chose it. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the room for the price we paid. Mind you, it was not fancy but it was functional and clean. The staff was pleasant and we slept well. I had no worries about safety - the neighborhood was run down but didn't seem unsafe. Overall, we were very satisfied and would stay here again.
“it was nice”
It was only a stop over on the way home
“Second time around”
This is the second time we have stayed at this motel and would stay there again when passing through Mesa, AZ. The first room was better yet this was acceptable. Breakfast is still better than many complementary breakfasts we have had. Location was central to where we needed to be so it was convenient.
“Overall, 'pretty darn pleased.' :)”
The only reason I gave this hotel a 4 star rating is because it's old, but it's quiet and clean and I had a very pleasant stay. The staff was very kind to me, including housekeeping, and I enjoyed my stay with them. If I'm ever back in Mesa, I will be staying here again. :) "Thanks." :)
“okay for our needs.”
The hotel fitted our needs for the time we were there. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It only had a single cup coffee/tea maker so it required paticence to brew either
“Not so bad, but not so great either”
There were a few problems with this hotel. The wireless internet wasn't working and that was a great inconvenience to me. Also at night, the old "Best Western" sign shines through the Howard Johnson banner they put on top of it so i drove by the hotel several times looking for a Howard Johnson when the only sign I could see was for a Best Western. Other than that, the hotel was good. Nice little pool, good room with fridge, iron and hairdryer. Breakfast in the morning. Wouldn't go again though until they get their internet situation under control.
“Not on my list of places to stay”
No hot water first morning. They claimed to have fixed it. Checked it that evening and still no hot water. Said maintenance would be there in the AM. Had hot water the second morning, checked out. Short apology.
“Not impressed”
Front desk demanded a $30 deposit on my credit card, even though our stay was pre-paid through Expedia. When asked why, the reply was a "damage deposit." It was offensive to be assumed to be a guest who would cause damage. This Howard Johnson's is a former Best Western. All the usual motel information booklets in the room still carry the Best Western logo. The most recent weekly HBO television schedule in the room was over 6 months old. When I reported that the tub didn't drain, the front desk apologized, but made no effort to investigate or modify our bill for this inconvenience. Loud, commercial trash trucks woke us around 2 a.m., collecting from dumptsers. Reasonable rates attracted a "full house" of families with rambunctious children. Not a quiet, restful atmosphere by any means. We will not stay there again.
