First room they gave me had clogged shower drain. They upgraded me to a nicer room so I was happy.
Breakfast was very good and on the top floor with a view.
Very friendly helpful staff overall.
Location is great near all the action.
I am a noise phobic so will just focus on that. The windows are very thin and the building just seems surrounded by the honking cars and scooters. However, there are some quiet rooms especially room 11 on each floor (i.e., 411, 511, 611 etc.). These have just one window and is protected on each side by a concrete wall so in kind of an alcove. It worked fine for me and I am so fearful of noise I often imagine it. for noise phobes check in early and do a tour of the rooms to make sure you get a quiet one. There is one room per floor with no windows so very quiet but too claustrophobic for me. Otherwise hotel is OK. You get what you pay for. Why oh why don't they just put inch thick glass in the windows and solve the noise issue once and for all. The whole world would stay in such a place.
We had a bit of miscommunication with staff course of English but everyone was very helpful and kind.
Location was good but it was bit noisy till late night with loud music cause here was very close to many bars and backpackers area.
Room was always well cleaned .
Great hotel, close to all amenities. Air conditioner saved my life as it was high 30's during my visit.
Staff were very friendly at all times, always asking if anything was needed, opening the doors, or just starting out your day with a pleasant " good morning".
Rooms are typical and clean for this area. Everything in room worked so all was good.
I'd definitely stay again.
Located in the heart of the tourist area, this is my 4th stay at AN AN 2. Most staff speak good English and each are gracious, friendly, and helpful in all regards. They sincerely wish to please guests and make your stay a pleasant one. There's a tour desk in the hotel. Both the tour desk and the hotel offer very reasonable rates and accept US Dollars. Stores, coffee shops, and restaurants are just outside the door. If you're high maintenance or require a 4 or 5 star hotel, don't stay here. If you have simple needs, like to smile, want a memorable cultural experience, and are open to making new friends, this is the place for you. After staying 3 times and booking a few tours from here, the tour desk girl messaged me an invite to her wedding. That was the reason for my 4th visit. Its not often you can stay at a hotel and walk away with lifelong friends but it happens here.
Affordable accommodation, interesting shops, and a buzzing nightlife make Pham Ngu Lao the destination of choice for backpackers. Pham Ngu Lao is also renowned for its street food. Gorge on banh mi--Vietnamese baguette sandwiches--or pho, the famous noodle soup. Then nurse a local draft beer, bia hoi, at a road side bar, and people watch.
