Beautiful setting in an old mill. Brantome is an interesting small town. When I arrived at the hotel I was greeted warmly. Did my check in by the fireplace in the sitting room. Was offered champagne/cocktail drink.Valet parking is provided in the cave across the street. My room in the main building-(get in the main building if you can) had a fabulous view of the medieval town, the river confluence below the island, the bridges and cliffs and caves above the island. The room was nice, bed comfortable, the lighting was adequate for reading in bed. There was an in room safe. I ate one dinner at the restaurant. The service was attentive, food was delicious. The view from the restaurant, the wine list, a real dining experience! The breakfast was a bit expensive. It was a little cold, and overcast, and intermittent rain when I was there (early may). I would have paid any price to breakfast at the riverside tables on a sunny morning.I used Brantome as my jumping off point to my Dorgonne visit (rented car in Angloumeme at train station).Nice town, nicer hotel, nicest restaurant.
