“Refuge in the heart of the action.”
Classical elegance with no trace of chain hotel mechanism. A single concierge on duty, 24 hrs. The Wi-Fi works most of the time. It is on a side street in the heart of the St. Germain and St. Michel neighborhood. Easy going and coming; a major Metro stop is a couple of blocks away. Ile d' Citie is a few more blocks away. Restaurants abound, and are quite good. No breakfast included; street noise on weekend nights and early AM. We'll go back there.
“Great central location.”
The Hotel is exactly what you see on the web site. It is just a lobby and five floors with rooms. We paid the upgrade for a deluxe suite which again is the room that you see on the site and it was more then adequate in size. While we didn't actually view the other rooms, I beleive they are extremely small. Our king size bed was not actually a king but two twins pushed together and very firm. I was a little disappointed by that. The biggest complaint I have with this hotel were the paper thin walls. You could hear everything, and I mean everything. The best thing about the place was its central location. It's steps away from the Seine and a few blocks from Notre Dame. Its around the corner from St. Michels sqaure which just happens to be the best metro stop, as many of the top attractions run along this line. I can't stress this enough "get a metro pass". It's a little scary at first but it is the only way to get around Paris. Another note about the Hotel and Parisians in general, they don't like ice so there is no ice machine and if you want some, especially during those intensly hot summers you have to go to the bar across the street. The hotel staff were very helpful and provided us with directions upon request. The hotel also offers free internet and has a computer downstairs which they allow you to use. While I would recommend this hotel it is important to note that a 4 star in Paris would be equivalent to a 3 star in Toronto. Lastly our room did have airconditioning.
“Nicely located"”
Nicely located in Paris, Hotel is small but the rooms where nice size and the bath was nice. Hallways need some attention to detail.
“Great location, might go back some day”
This is a fairly small hotel - more like a townhouse converted into a hotel. We were concerned it would be very noisy with the Irish Pub right next to us on the corner (and it being return to school time!) but with the heavy shades and windows well shut there were little or no issues with noises from outside. Too bad the neighbors next door decided to have loud middle-aged antics and woke us up ("Oh, oui!! , oh, oui!!!") but they were quick and we got back to sleep in a reasonable amount of time. The staff was very pleasant. The room was clean. We never did breakfast in the front entrance since there is a great place around the corner with really good coffee. It was a family business so it was extra pleasant to drop in. Use the little safe provided if you have any worries. Our door apparently was difficult to shut and was left open one day by the cleaning folks. However, they watch everyone coming in and out (you are given a key to the front door), and with so few guests they could likely spot someone who should not be in the hotel. I might go back some day if I was to go back to the St-Germain area. Looks like they did a few fixups since the more negative comments on this hotel from years past. If you have never been to Europe and have only stayed in American chain hotels, just brace yourself to have space constraints. If you set the right expectations, you will enjoy yourself fine.
“fabulous location”
A clean, comfortable room in a great location. All personnel were polite, friendly and helpful.I doubt that we could have done any better had we been to Paris many times before. We were steps away from the metro, surrounded by cafes and bistros, shops, history, and people. The traditional breakfast was more than we needed to get us going in the morning and we didn't miss any of those big hotel amenities.
