“Timhotel Berthier Paris XVII”
Very good hotel great staff
“not a good experience”
On first arrival the hotel looked impressive, but when we went up to our room, we first noticed that the room smelled of smoke. Then we noticed that the room was not the twin room that we had booked, so after returning to reception we were told that our alloted room was not yet ready and that we would recieve it the following day. We accepted that but asked for a change because of the smoke smell; we were given another room for the night then returned to reception the following day to recieve the correct room but were told that it was not availabe until the next day again. On the next day we decided to stay in the present room because we already unpacked, but the receptionist was very rude about it and told the room servicing not to clean our room. From this point on, after returning to our room, we found that the main air condition switch was turned off. They were rude, unpleasant, would not stop giving us dirty looks, and we had problems with them every day. The only pleasant people in the hotel were the wait staff in the restaurant. this was a very unpleasant stay and we considered moving hotels.
“Good choice for someone that wants to enjoy Paris”
Close to the subway is the best feature...learn the subway and you can get anywhere by crossing the street and getting on the metro. Front desk people were extremely receptive, informative and willing to help...don't be shy...just ask your questions...where to do money exchange, where to go on the subway to see whatever, where to eat, etc. Eat at the diner in the hotel only if you have to...there are better places to eat across the street, plus a bakery...or hop the metro and get closer to city center for even better selection options. Room was clean...do not disturb sign was ignored once...use it if you want them to stay out, otherwise they will come in.
“Clean, simple...did the job”
We stayed at the Timhotel Berthier a few weeks ago during a short stay (5 days) in Paris. While it wasn't a 3 star hotel by American standards, it was clean, cozy and comfortable. Front desk staff spoke English and was pleasant, we felt safe coming in at night, and the train station was right across the street. I would definitely recommend it to travelers who aren't interested in the frills that come along with 4 and 5 star American hotels, but are simply looking for a clean, safe place to sleep.

“Small but in the city”
Traveling with friends, this is a notch above staying in hostels or hotels all the way out in Disneyland Paris that seem dusty from their websites. I know this is Paris--but I would have paid 20 dollars more to be in a more historic and closer-to-Montmartre hotel than this. Recommended for those who are on a budget and just want a place to crash at night. It was very noisy and for four hours from 1am-5am I heard this really obnoxious drunken screaming match between either 2 homeless people downstairs or next door hotel guests. Like other reviewers have written, there is an island of sorts of homeless people sleeping 30 feet in front of the hotel every night. Also, note that not every corner has a traffic light so late at night you might have to be risky. There is a bakery though (that none of the people at reception mentioned) that is right past the burger place on the right side of the street. The people at reception were fairly helpful--but the fact that they did not know where any internet cafe was or a bakery nearby surprised me.
“Great budget hotel”
While it is a bit far out of the city center, it's right along a metro stop and very convenient to many places if you're not afraid of public transit. I thought this hotel was great and convenient.
“Location, location, location - to Metro and RER”
This hotel was conveniently located to both the Metro and RER. Our rooms were immaculate - one tight for three people yet with a large bathroom & tub while the other spacious but with a shower that was dangerous to get in and out of and was supposedly a handicapped room. That room was over the kitchen of the restaurant which was not in service because the entire kitchen was being revamped, and we certainly knew it. The one day I had to stay in with a sick child was full of the sound of jackhammers. Had we been notified of this situation I would have requested a room in another wing or perhaps another hotel. But, it was in a great location for the rate and had some neat little bars and an excellent bakery nearby with a great pastry, drink and sandwich deal for 4.50 euro! That was breakfast & lunch for the day, perfect for a picnic. Also, the beds and linens were very comfortable, especially after a full day of sightseeing.
“Review”
Good hotel that is right next to the metro which made it quite convenient. Would recommend for anyone staying in Paris for a few days.
“Good experience overall”
The room was very small but it is was good for the price. It was not close to the center but the metro(which is opposite the hotel) gets you there in 15 mins. The service at the hotel is great and the breakfast is pretty good (this was not included with our reservation). The hotel room was very clean.
