“near moulin rouge”
just off a main street one block from very accessible metro system. one block from Moulin Rouge, great show! just a short walk to Montmartre, suggest taking tram up and walk down. one of the hop-on-hop-off routes just accross the street from Moulin Rouge. breakfast was included in our stay, was filling and enjoyable. the not-so-good no air-conditioning, slept with window open wifi included, but didn't work with my computer. i think there was too many other transmitters near by. (im at my next stop and on their wifi no problems) price was reasonable for us, for location and easy access to metro/attractions that we were interested in. The Big attractions(tour eiffel, louvre, etc) covered by hop-on-hop-off. and hotel located on route so that was easy. the bus we took had 4 different routes and we used it 2 days, 3 would be best. we stayed 4 nights and the hotel staff were very helpfull and accomodating. i recomend this hotel if you sleep in your hotel, and fill your day with adventure. we found the tourist shops in this area tended to be cheaper than near the Big attractions. enjoy your stay
“Rat infested hotel”
The maintenance was horrible, the cupboard was broken, the sink was cracked and the door lock would not open properly. In the night you hear a lot of noises, perhaps from rats which gives you no sleep. The floor too is uneven and your suitcase sometimes slides. There was a Tv in the room but no signal to watch anything. When asked, the hotel guy said its not the fault of the hotel but the cable system.Only good thing is the location.
“Very bad”
The worst hotel that we ever saw. The bath was so dirty that the water did not go threw, TV was not working, we could hear our neighbors talking, the room was very poor, doesn`t match with pictures on the web-site. In Canada the poorest motel room looks better that this hotel room! We stay there for 4 days and will never go back to this hotel again. In Paris don`t take the hotel less that 4 stars if you don`t want to be disappointed from your vacation.
“Very interesting.. see notes”
I knew in advance the hotel would be somewhat questionable due to reviews here, but we booked due to cost, location, and lack of much else available. The front desk was polite and helpful. This hotel is small and old - that means narrow corridors, thin walls, small rooms. Here are some of the things that caught our interest. Stairs are a rather neat spiral stair case, though the steps are uneven. This is good to know, because the elevator is a very small lift the size of a small closet - you can fit one person and a small bag in it - my large bag and I wouldn't fit, so I walked a lot. Our room, on the fifth floor, was VERY uneven. There is about a 5 degree slant to the floor (which at least feels stable ;) ). The TV is a small unit mounted to the wall, though the wall mount feels loose. Walls are thin and everything neighbors do is audible - but there's only one immediate neighbor so it's not too bad. Internet is reachable near the window from the Mercure across the street if you are facing it, but otherwise there is no free internet. Several other pay hotspots are reachable. Bathroom is servicable but could be better - toilet seat is jury-rigged on and the 110v razor transformer seems not to work. Location is great - very close to Metro, Monmarte, Moulin Rouge, etc. May appear shady, but everyone is friendly. Very English friendly. Fantastic pubs are right there. I can't recommend in general, but if you are okay with this sort of thing, no real reason to avoid!
“Hotel did great - but the other guests....”
i liked this hotel and would give it a try again. It was a great price and location staff was very polite. Unfortunately wals are thin and when the couple in the next room decides to argue you feel part of it. bad luck on my part, and I don't blame the hotel, but know that at these prices you might get a young couple who just doesn't get it yet. By the way I liked the energy of the neighbourhood, but some might not be prepared for all it offers. Across the street is also a cheap eats restaurant called flunch. It is a chain, and basic, but good value and healthier then other chain food places. For Paris - this saved the budget!
“Not so Modern, but acceptable.”
Bed was large but hard. This didn't bother us too much as we were exhausted by the time we arrived. There was only one towel for two people. Breakfast was simple but enjoyable. The front desk help was nice at all times of the day. The neighborhood was lively and filled with lovely things to do. The subway is not too far away and most people we encountered were very pleasant. Overall for a budget hotel last minute, I'd recommend it.
“Good price, comfy room.”
Perfect place to stay if you're on a budget. The hotel was about a 20 min. walk to a lot of the big stuff (Louvre, Place de Concorde, Madeleine, etc.), and a really quick subway ride if you don't feel like walking. There are lots of places to grab food (the tavern right around the corner is good and relatively cheap) or a drink. As for the room itself, it was very clean, albeit basic. Housecleaning made the bed everyday and changed the towels. The travelers in the next room were really obnoxious though, and the walls weren't very sound proof. However, I wasn't really surprised by this, kind of comes with the 2-star hotel territory. The receptionist was great, very friendly and helpful. Overall a good stay. I plan on staying there again next time I'm in Paris.
“super”
the staff was friendly. located right next to the metro station and in a fun neighborhood. complementary breakfast was great and there were plenty of food. the room was comfortable and had a nice balcony view. the only problems: the shower door didnt close so the floor got all wet and the sink drained slowly so that was kinda gross. However overall an A hotel for the price.
“Good value on a budget”
The hotel was clean & comfortable, but a bit worn around the edges. The armoire was missing a drawer, but they seemed to be doing renovations on the hotel while we were there. Breakfast in the dinning room saved us money. Hotel staff was friendly and helped us book a river cruise.
“Good European budget hotel”
If you are on a budget and would like to visit Paris, this hotel is a good place to stay. Of course it is not luxury, but it is not represented as such. What you do get though is a good clean room with shower, tub and usual amenities (towels, shampoo, etc.), and television with cable (including BBC). In addition, the hotel provides free continental breakfast each day, including baguette, croissant, yogurt, coffee and orange juice. There are many good restaurants nearby. Moreover, the hotel is a block away from a Metro station with quick access to the central attractions. The staff spoke English well and were very helpful (they helped me with a trip to Versailles). A very good value at an affordable price. Would stay there again.
