“Romantic, great bedding, spotless, tiny room.”
Through good design, good surfaces and materials, and, most importantly, excellent bed and bed-linens, the hotel has transformed the typically tiny Parisian hotel room into a delightful little cocoon. The location is a bit far from the heart of the 5th Arr., but convenient to a couple of metro stops and with a night bus stop right in front of the hotel you can get home at any hour. I found the addition of aromatherapy fragrances to the rooms to be a bit contrived, but easy enough to ask for an unscented room. Our room on the back courtyard was very quiet.
“Wonderful stay”
The hotel is very charming, and everything is planned on the details. The room was very clean and everyday they refresh with a delicious fragrance. The staff was hiper friendly and helpfull, I lost my debit card in Paris and they help me with everything possible to cancel it.
“Modern, clean, comfortable”
Any review of any thing is subjective, but we were pleased with our stay based on cleanliness, modern features, ability to sleep very well each night. Located apprx 5 min walk from the Gobelins metro station and even closer to a bus stop, it was very quick and easy to travel all over the city and also to day trips outside of Paris. It's also nice that there are several cafes just outside of the hotel - my husband liked the all-evening happy hours. I liked the little dog in one of the cafes. Rue Mouffetard is in walking distance, with many dining options. Many say the rooms are small, but we did not need more space, and would have been fine with a smaller room (we have stayed in smaller - especially the bathroom - in other European cities). We were so busy each day, that within minutes of returning to our room, we were fast asleep.
“Would absolutely stay at again”
We stayed at The Five for three nights in November and were extremely happy. While the room wasn't enormous (as with most European hotels), it was impeccably clean, the bed was comfortable, everything was modern and updated, and the staff were top notch--they knew our names and greeted us personally each day. The location in the Latin Quarter was fine, although not in the middle of all the traditional tourist destinations.
“The Five Hotel, Hidden Gem!”
It's like what they say about real estate in America, Location, Location, Location! This hidden gem has all 3! Took Euro Star from London to Paris, then two short train/subway rides and .5 mile walk to hotel. Safe neighborhood, very quiet! The only "negative" would be room size. I think the room was smaller than my first college dorm room, but charming, quiet and CLEAN!
“Wonderful hotel--but tiny rooms.”
We recently returned from a great trip to Paris. The Five Hotel was an excellent choice. Cool design and decent location (close to the Metro and RER). The people at the front desk could not have been friendlier. They were so helpful. Only minor negative was the size of our room. So small I could almost touch both walls when I stood on the bed. Oh well, that's how it goes in most European hotels...just takes a little getting used to. Overall, a wonderful choice.
“A Quiet Gem in Paris”
I absolutely loved staying at The Five Hotel. It was a short distance from the Port Royal metro stop (completely walkable) and was surrounded by several little restaurants. The hotel itself was very nice, chic and all around hip with great decoration and a clean room and bathroom. The cafe in the basement serves breakfast every morning and while a bit expensive, very convenient and good. The hotel staff did speak English which was extremely helpful. Two minor down-sides: the elevator has a bit of a funky smell (it might have been the leather interior) and the hotel isn't necessarily by anything, you have to get on the RER or the Metro to really get anywhere. Overall, a great place to stay though, I would definitely stay again! If you do stay, I recommend the little bar right across the street--they're open late, have great food and very friendly staff.
“Very impressed”
I stayed with my daughter and was really impressed. It is very chic but also very compact although the space is well designed and you don't go to Paris to sit in your hotel room anyway - well we didn't. It's about a 15 minute stroll from Notre Dame or a 5 minute walk to Les Gobelins metro station. Walking distance to loads of good quality restaurants and bars. I'd definitely stay again.
“PARIS”
For the shortcoming the hotel had (not really any hot water for two showers) the staff was extremely friendly and the hotel was impeccably clean. The cafe/bar right across the street was excellent for a late nightcap and the manager was very nice.
“Surprised at the ambience”
This was a lovely little hotle. It was tucked in a neighborhood that s;eemed at first to be out of the way, but it was handy to the metro and the RER line by it took us straight to DeGaulle, so the transport was great from there. They were so accomodating to all our needs. The room was TINY but beautiful and very clean. If you weigh more than 200 lbs you may not fit into the shower. But it had great water pressure and interesting lighting. I would stay there again as the price was great. We thought breakfast was included, but it wasn't so check carefully. They were great about making it right for us. I would stay again.
