“Fun place”
It was rather wonderful.
“Would go back”
Due to flight cancellations we had to check in very late into the hotel. We had called to let the hotel know and they were ok with it. We arrived at 11PM and having read previous reviews we knew that the hotel check-in was in the restaurant below, which I could see being confusing if we did not know that prior. The room was quiet, small and clean. The shower was pretty terrible as the drain would easily flood the bathroom and it was quite easy to burn yourself when you turned in the small shower and hit the knob - just a minor complaint. Overall, a good stay. We would stay there again. It isn't a place where I would spend a lot of time, but is a good 'base' where you could return to every night after a long day out in Paris. As far as location, it was close to Notre Dame and The Louvre
“A room for sleep, take baths and make your own coffee.”
The hotel occupies the 2nd to 4th floors of a five floors building. In the first floor there is a restaurant. They assigned to me the room 303 (third floor) and there is no elevator, so we have to carry our bags three floors in very narrow stair to access our room. The room have two twin beds (one beside the other), and one additional bed (triple room). The room is very small (just enough space for the three twin beds and a little table that serves as a desk. There is also a small closet with space for the clothes of a single person. The only place where you can put your bags is in the floor. The bath is also small, just the space needed for a small shower, a toilet and a wash-basin and the mirror. Hot water was fine. The best thing is that a small fringe, dishwasher and a refrigerator is installed. The TV is a 12 inches one with only three channels. In summary, for less than the average price, I received just for what I pay for, a small room for sleep, take baths and make my own coffee. There are no additional amenities. Good things: 1) It is less that 50 meters from a metro station, 2) there is a supermarket across the street.
“Decent, Clean Place”
My husband and I stayed here for 8 nights during a conference, so we weren't in the room much. I had booked the room for two people, and we ended up with two single beds shoved together, which I wasn't as happy about. We had the first floor room with a window toward the street, which was nice, except people sit at the restaurant tables below and smoke and all of that smoke comes in the room, which made me sick. The room was very clean and the bathroom kept clean. There seemed to be a problem with the towels, since I had to ask for a second large towel the first day, and after that we never had any large towels until our last day. Because we came back in the evening, we never had a chance to ask for large towels, and this was very annoying, having to use handtowels to dry off every day. The refrigerator was very convenient, there is a small grocery store around the corner so we could keep milk and juice for breakfast, which helped keep costs down for food. There was a stove, but not cookware at all, so we didn't bother with that. We never used the hotel's restaurant, so I can't comment on that. Over all we were very satisfied with the value of the hotel and the cleanliness, just don't expect much along service lines, since it's a small run business and there isn't a full time staff.
“Dirty, but price and location ok”
Dirty/dusty rooms, thin walls, good location, friendly price, close to metro station, in-room fridge, so so neighborhood.
“this is not a hotel, it's a residence”
It's a place of rooms above a restaurant. It does smell like food, and it shouldn't. There is no proper ventilation in the washroom - you can see it in the peeling paint on the walls and ceiling. After a night of showering, I witnessed paint falling from the ceiling into the shower stall. The shower curtain didn't reach the ground, so the floor was wet after every shower, no matter how careful I was. It was difficult to shower because the stall was small - each time I turn, I would hit the faucet and change the temperature of the water. The hair dryer smelled, so I didn't use it. Whenever walking through the hall way, there was always bags of laundry and table cloths in the hall way, which makes it difficult to bring luggage through. My particular room opened up into an inner enclosed area. It was enclosed by a glass roof, and prevented sunlight from coming in. Even during the middle of the day, I needed to turn the lights on to see properly. The good things about the residence is that it was close to the subway station, and had free wifi in the room.
“Better budget hotels out there”
Holes in the mattresses, no full size towels, a sticky floor, and a bathroom doorknob that would lock you in, so we left the door open. Stains on the bedspread, a fridge that didn't work, and the phone table was falling off the wall. Not the best neighborhood, with wholesale shops only. I never felt unsafe, and while the bedspreads were stained, the sheets seemed clean enough, so in an emergency, it isn't the end of the world to stay here.
“Would not stay again”
After finally just being able to access the room area, we had to lug our suitcases up two flights of stairs, as there was no elevator. The room was very small and had cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. The alleged furniture could barely be called that at all, and the entire room was a bit dingy. The blowdryer was broken and covered in dust, as was the area behind the toilet, though Parisians do not seem to be too concerned with keeping bathrooms very clean. The bathtub was nice, but the shower head did not work at all. The bed sheets were clean but dingy and instead of pillow cases a bottom sheet was just folded over them. The blanket was actually what would normally constitute a dust ruffle in any other hotel room. Also on expedia they purported to be able to help with tourist info such as tours, etc. but considering they would not even help me gain access to the building, I did not want to push my luck. There were no pamphlets or maps in the hotel. On the bright side we could walk to the city fairly quickly, though past 10ish the streets were empty and a bit seedy, and not safe for someone to walk alone.
